🖤 HONORING CAPTAIN DELACRUZ 🖤

The Malvern Police Department has placed a memorial, Captain Delacruz's Patrol Durango, in front of the department in honor of Captain Delacruz, who passed away on September 17, 2026.

This vehicle will serve as a visible reminder of a man who dedicated his life to service, family, and his community—first in the United States Navy and later as a member of the Malvern Police Department.

We invite the Malvern community, friends, fellow officers, veterans, and all who knew Captain Delacruz to stop by the Malvern Police Department and pay their respects.

The memorial will provide a place for our community to come together, remember Captain Delacruz, and show support for his family and the men and women of the Malvern Police Department who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Whether you knew Captain Delacruz personally or simply want to show your support, you are welcome.

Bring a flower. Leave a note. Say a prayer. Share a memory. Or simply take a moment to stand in silence.

This is more than a patrol vehicle.

It is a reminder that Captain Delacruz served—and that he will not be forgotten.

Please keep the Delacruz family and the entire Malvern Police Department family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

🖤 Rest easy, Captain. We have the watch from here. 🖤

🇺🇸 REMEMBERING CAPTAIN DOROTEO G. DELACRUZ, JR. 🇺🇸

Today, September 17, 2026, the Malvern Police Department mourns the loss of one of our own, Captain Doroteo G. DelaCruz, Jr.

Captain DelaCruz dedicated his life to serving others. Long before he wore the badge of the Malvern Police Department, he answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an FMF Corpsman, including service during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

After his military service, Captain DelaCruz continued his commitment to his community through a career in law enforcement with the Malvern Police Department. His service was about far more than a uniform or a title. It was about people, family, community, and leaving things better than he found them.

Outside of law enforcement, Captain DelaCruz was a devoted family man. He was a father, and those who knew him knew how important his family was to him. His commitment to young people also extended well beyond his own family. He spent approximately 30 years volunteering as a youth coach and more than two decades serving with the Boys and Girls Club.

Captain DelaCruz also gave his time to his community through organizations including the Lions Club and the VFW, where he was a Lifetime Member.

A life of service is measured not only by the years someone wears a uniform, but by the lives they touch along the way.

Captain DelaCruz wore more than one uniform during his life. Sailor. Corpsman. Police Officer. Captain. Coach. Mentor. Father. Friend.

Each one represented another chapter of a life dedicated to serving others.

Today, the men and women of the Malvern Police Department stand with his family, friends, fellow officers, fellow veterans, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you for your service to our country.
Thank you for your service to the City of Malvern.
Thank you for the lives you touched.
And thank you for the legacy you leave behind.

Rest easy, Captain.

👮‍♀️💙 Happy National Women’s Police Day! 💙👮‍♀️

Today, the Malvern Police Department proudly recognizes two outstanding women who serve our community — Officer Laney Wallace and Detective Susan Turner.

Officer Wallace may be newer to the badge, but she has already shown the dedication, determination, and heart it takes to be a police officer. From starting her law-enforcement career with MPD to stepping up in training and serving the citizens of Malvern, we’re proud to have her wearing the badge!

Detective Susan Turner has continued to prove that being a police officer is about far more than just putting on a uniform. From patrol to investigations and everything in between, Det. Turner has built a career around protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and serving the citizens of Malvern and Hot Spring County. Her experience, knowledge, and dedication make her an invaluable part of the MPD family.

Today we celebrate ALL of the women in law enforcement who answer the call, work the long hours, run toward situations others run from, and continue to make a difference in their communities every single day.

To Officer Wallace and Detective Turner — thank you for what you do, thank you for representing the Malvern Police Department, and thank you for wearing the badge with pride. 💙🇺🇸

From all of us at MPD, Happy National Women’s Police Day!

💪 A BIG THANK YOU TO WALMART! 💪

The Malvern Police Department would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Walmart for their generous donations to our department gym!

Thanks to their support, our officers now have some great new equipment to help us stay active, get stronger, and—most importantly—stay physically prepared for the job. From new benches and racks to dumbbells and other workout equipment, these donations will get plenty of use!

“With this much new equipment, there’s really no excuse now… except maybe paperwork. We can always blame the paperwork. 😂”

Seriously though, physical fitness is an important part of being prepared for the demands of law enforcement, and we greatly appreciate Walmart investing in the health and well-being of our officers.

Thank you, Walmart, for supporting the Malvern Police Department and helping us become stronger officers for a stronger community! 💙👮‍♂️💪

⚡ New Officer Training Day! ⚡

Today, Friday, September 4th, 2026, Officers Justin Rudell and Colton Johnson participated in some really great training as they continue their journey with the Malvern Police Department.

Today’s lesson came with a little extra kick—courtesy of a TASER! ⚡😂

Both officers got the opportunity to experience firsthand what it feels like to be on the receiving end of a TASER. While it may not have been the most enjoyable part of the day, experiencing the effects firsthand gives officers a better understanding of the equipment they may be called upon to use in the field.

We’re proud of the effort these two are putting into their training and look forward to watching them continue to grow into great officers.

Welcome to the family, Rudell and Johnson! 👮‍♂️⚡

👮‍♂️ PLEASE JOIN US IN WELCOMING TWO NEW MEMBERS OF THE MALVERN POLICE DEPARTMENT! 👮‍♂️

The Malvern Police Department is proud to introduce two of our newest sworn Police Officers, Officer Justin Rudell and Officer Colton Johnson!

Both officers were recently sworn in by the Honorable Judge Billy Jack Gibson. At this time, neither officer is certified as a law enforcement officer, and both are expected to attend an Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in January as they begin their journey toward becoming certified police officers.

👮‍♂️ Meet Officer Colton Johnson

First up is Officer C. Johnson. Now, we're not exactly sure what we're going to call him around here. We already have a Colton, a Johnson, and a CJ at the department. Somehow, we're going to have to figure this one out! 😂

Officer Johnson was born right here in Malvern and graduated from the Malvern School District in 2015.

Officer Johnson has been happily married to his wife, Megan, for six years. (Megan, if that information is incorrect, please blame your husband.) The couple has two children, Piper and Easton.

When he's not at work suffering through PowerPoint training, Officer Johnson enjoys being outdoors. He is an avid hunter, trains c**n dogs, and most importantly, enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

👮‍♂️ Meet Officer Justin Rudell

Next, we'd like to introduce Officer Justin Rudell.

Officer Rudell comes to the Malvern Police Department from Benton, where he was born and graduated from Benton High School in 2008.

Justin spent several years as a competitive shooter, participating in IDPA matches, and brings that experience and discipline with him to the department.

Officer Rudell also owns his own window tinting business.

When he's not at work suffering through PowerPoint presentations himself, Justin enjoys hunting, hiking, and pretty much anything that gets him outdoors.

🚔 WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

Please take a moment to welcome Officer Justin Rudell and Officer Colton Johnson to the Malvern Police Department and the City of Malvern!

Both officers are beginning an exciting new chapter, and we look forward to watching them grow through training and experience as they work toward becoming certified police officers.

Welcome to the Malvern PD family, Officers! We're glad to have you! 🇺🇸👮‍♂️
