🎉 Class of 2027, welcome to the journey 🎉

Leadership Prince William officially kicked off its 20th Signature Program class last Thursday in style!

The 10-month journey began with an incredible send-off at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, surrounded by supportive alumni, friends, and family.

Executive Director Al Durr emceed the event, Rebecca Barnes shared valuable insights on 20 years of leadership and growth, Bennett Whitlock welcomed the new class, Chair Dr. Bob Schneider offered inspiring words, and Class of 2026 Representative Victoria Armold passed the baton to the incoming leaders. Congrats to the Class of 2026 "One-Nine, We All Shine" for winning the golden pineapple...for now!

The cohort then headed to the "Mountain" to dive into their Emergenetics profiles and begin building strong connections that will last long beyond the program.

We can't wait to watch this amazing group explore our community, deepen their awareness of key issues, and step into their potential as impactful leaders. Welcome Class of 2027!

Better Together: Leading Our Community Forward

This image captures a powerful moment: local leaders from opposite sides of the aisle discussing how they work together to find common ground. At Leadership Prince William (LPW), we believe that when we work together, we accelerate the progress of our entire community.

The LPW Signature Program is more than just leadership sessions. It’s a catalyst for community impact. We help leaders:

🏀 This Sunday, June 7, we’re playing for something bigger than basketball.
Too many kids are being held back from sports and activities simply because they don’t have access to a basic physical. That’s a barrier we’re committed to breaking — together.

Jeremy Coleman (Class of 2026) and the Park City DREAMERS are committing proceeds from ticket sales directly toward this cause, along with additional fundraising efforts including a 50/50 raffle and a halftime half-court contest. Every ticket purchased becomes an investment into the health, opportunity, and future of a child in our community.

Corporate and individual sponsors will receive special recognition throughout the evening, including acknowledgements by the team’s Public Address Announcer and visibility during the live online telecast streamed by Prince William Sports & Entertainment. This is more than a basketball game. This is our community coming together to remove barriers for children and ensure they have access to the care they need to participate in school activities and athletics.

Leadership Prince William’s (LPW) Board of Regents is excited to announce the selection of its new Executive Director, Alfranda “Al” Durr of Al Durr & Associates (ALD). Mr. Durr will officially begin his new position on July 1, 2026, but has already begun working with LPW on the transition. Mr. Durr was selected following a request for qualifications (RFQ) to manage LPW’s comprehensive programs and activities. The Board and ALD will begin contract negotiations immediately.

“With LPW about to celebrate its 20th year and its historic 20th Signature Program class, the Board was looking to offer more to its alumni and future classes. The RFQ was our way of going to the marketplace to see what innovative approaches could benefit LPW and the community,” said LPW’s Board Chair Bob Schneider.

Al is a proud Signature Program Class of 2025 (Spark in the Dark) alumnus and has supported LPW since 2021 by providing leadership training for the Emerging Leaders Program. He is also CEO and Founder of ALD & Associates LLC, an award-winning human capital and business transformation firm. Under his leadership, ALD has earned multiple Prince William Chamber honors, reflecting a strong commitment to leadership, service, community partnership, and regional impact.

“I am honored to be selected as the next Executive Director of LPW and want to thank the Board Regents for their confidence in me to build on the track record of excellence and success from my predecessors,” said Mr. Durr. “As an LPW Alum (Spark in the Dark, Class of ’25), I will be focused on delivering the high-quality leadership programming the Prince William Community deserves. I look forward to meeting with sponsors, alumni, and stakeholders to learn more about how we can build a bright future together while making sure our Signature Program continues to build on our success.”

LPW’s current Executive Director, Charles Gilliam, announced in April 2026 that he would not pursue the RFQ opportunity and will leave LPW on June 30, 2026, after four years of successful service. Mr. Gilliam began as Interim Executive Director when the position became vacant. He was then selected as the permanent director in the fall of 2023 under the leadership of then-Chair Tiffany Izenour. “Without question, Charles was the right leader for LPW for the last four years,” said Izenour. “We are all so appreciative of Charles’s commitment to LPW and his ability to redevelop our programs in a post-COVID world and to pull together a refreshed and energetic board.
