Thank you to Governor Kelly Ayotte and the New Hampshire Executive Council for hosting a Hunger Action Month food drive benefiting the New Hampshire Food Bank. We are grateful for the Governor's proclamation, the challenge to collect food donations at the State House, and the opportunity to return and celebrate the impact of this effort. Your leadership helps raise awareness and support for neighbors facing hunger across New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Food Bank has been such an important partner to our state, and I was glad to join our Executive Councilors in a food drive for Hunger Action Month.

Thank you to Elsy Cirpriani and the entire New Hampshire Food Bank team for all you do to serve Granite Staters in need.

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY UPDATE – PLEASE SHARE
The NH Food Bank's regularly scheduled drive-thru mobile food pantry is headed to Keene next Wednesday, October 21. Households will receive an assortment of produce and shelf-stable items. We welcome anyone in need of food assistance to please join us.

Shoutout to the amazing volunteers from Penske!

Their team recently helped inspect and sort 4,913 pounds of food, the equivalent of 4,094 meals for our neighbors in need.

🌱💚 Fresh food, stronger communities, and neighbors helping neighbors.

Through the New Hampshire Food Bank's NH Feeding NH program, Grow Nashua, one of the agencies we work with to source culturally preferred produce, is helping ensure that families have access to fresh, nutritious foods that reflect their cultures and preferences.

Pictured here is a new mother receiving fresh lemongrass, one of the many culturally preferred produce items that help make healthy eating both accessible and meaningful.

We're grateful to work alongside organizations like Grow Nashua, whose commitment to serving families strengthens food security across our communities. 🎉 Celebrating one year of growth, dignity, and community at Christ the King Parish Food Pantry in Concord, which recently held an open house for its beautiful new Theresa A. Downing Memorial Building!

As a valued NH Food Bank partner agency, Christ the King has seen incredible impact in just one year. At the celebration, Father Rich told the large crowd of supporters that the pantry has nearly doubled the number of families served each distribution night and expanded from serving 800 individuals per month to more than 1,370.

Guests had an opportunity to tour the new facility. Its walk-in refrigerator and freezer make it possible to accept and distribute more fresh, nutritious foods, including produce, milk, eggs, yogurt, and other healthy options. Through the pantry's client-choice shopping model, neighbors can select foods that best meet their household's needs while building meaningful connections with volunteers.

During the celebration, members of our team were on hand to join community leaders, volunteers, and supporters in recognizing the pantry's success: Tom Blonski, President & CEO of Catholic Charities NH, NH Food Bank's Kristie Deneault, Assistant Director of Community Partnerships, Stacey Garron, Senior Agency Relations Coordinator, and Christine Givens, our newest Agency Relations Coordinator.

One very special attendee, Mary Jane Bailey, shared that she has been volunteering with the pantry for more than 50 years and remembers handing out peanut butter sandwiches from the basement. She was thrilled to see it evolve into a vibrant community space. Mary Jane is pictured (on the left) with our team and Crystal Proulx, one of the pantry's leaders.

One theme echoed throughout the event: "It's not just a food pantry, but truly a community." From food assistance and legal services to a welcoming place where neighbors can connect and find support, Christ the King is helping people meet essential needs and thrive.

Congratulations to Father Rich, the dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and everyone who has helped build this incredible community resource. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many Granite Staters. 💙

According to Feeding America, nearly half of adults ages 60-90 will experience at least one year of poverty or near-poverty, increasing their risk of food insecurity. For many older adults, a fixed income forces impossible choices. In fact, 66.5% of food-insecure seniors report having to choose between paying for food or paying for housing.

No one who has spent a lifetime contributing to their community should have to choose between keeping food on the table or a roof overhead.

Last week, in honor of Hunger Action Day, we welcomed leaders of municipal, nonprofit, and community organizations in Manchester & Concord for a special event at the NH Food Bank.

Attendees toured our facility and learned about our food distribution, innovative programs addressing the root causes of food insecurity, and SNAP application assistance & outreach partnership with the New Hampshire Department of Health & Human Services.

We were honored to host such an engaging and supportive audience, and to share our work to assist neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Through collaboration with local leaders and elected officials, the NHFB is increasing access to much-needed food assistance and raising awareness of the importance of food assistance programs, like SNAP.

🎉💙 A huge thank you to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty for the incredible success of its 10th Annual VeraniCARES Food Drive (the New Hampshire Food Bank is a proud beneficiary!).

Thanks to the generosity of Verani agents, staff, clients, and community members, the drive collected more than 11,000 pounds of food and Verani presented us with an additional $15,000 in financial donations. Together, those contributions will help provide the equivalent of more than 32,000 meals for New Hampshire neighbors facing hunger.

We were amazed to see the team fill 18 watermelon bins to the brim with donated food, a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together for a common cause.

For 10 years, Verani has been helping us and other nonprofits ensure that families, children, seniors, and veterans across New Hampshire and New England have access to the nutritious food they need. We are deeply grateful for this longstanding partnership and commitment to building a hunger-free New Hampshire.
