A woman was transported to the hospital after she was found stuck in the back of a garbage truck compactor at a Manchester apartment complex on Monday afternoon.

Manchester Battalion Chief Bob Beaudet said the garbage truck had just emptied a dumpster around 12:30 p.m. on Beech Hill Drive, where the woman fell into the dumpster while taking out the trash. The garbage compacted up to four times while she was trapped, officials said.

Beaudet said the truck driver saw the woman inside the truck via a camera that showed the interior, and the driver called 911. The woman was standing and talking/yelling but “was not alert enough to answer questions,” according to a press release.

She was transferred to Elliot Hospital after firefighters used ladders to access the top of the garbage truck and pull her out.
