I thank Mayor for continuing to support the Municipal Voting Rights Bill. Eric has shown once again his relentless commitment to our immigrant communities. As someone who has worked alongside for decades it comes of no surprise that he fully supports allowing nearly a million green card recipients and working permit holders to participate in our city’s democratic process. We build a stronger democracy when we include the voices of immigrants!

My sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Arcellie “Celi” Muschamp who tragically died after saving a baby from being struck by a truck. I will be working closely with & all stakeholders to ensure we are building a safer City for everyone.

Today, I will be joined by neighbors, friends, & family members for a street co-naming ceremony to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Miguel A. Melenciano.

2021 has been one of the deadliest years in recent memory for pedestrians and cyclists on our city’s streets. My priority on day one as Commissioner will be to increase pedestrian & cyclist safety by increasing the number of protected bike lanes, dedicated bus lanes, redesigning intersections, and increasing automated enforcement technology, among much more.

As Commissioner I will be working closely with the deliveristas to ensure our streets are safe for cyclists and pedestrians. My sincere condolences go out to the two New Yorkers who lost their lives today.
