Johnny Perez, Founder and Director of Day 1 Pictures, is a sought-after criminal justice reform advocate and speaker. Prisons Program Director for the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, working to end solitary confinement and U.S.-sponsored torture. Johnny is also a member of the Board of Directors for Juvenile Law Center and the Urban Justice Center, adding insight and guidance to non-profit public interest law firms. He has been invited to present on criminal justice reform at institutions of higher learning nationwide and has published his commentary in The New York Times, Ebony Magazine, USA Today, and other outlets. As a proud father, Johnny lives in Harlem and received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from St. Francis College of Brooklyn, where he mentors formerly incarcerated students.
