🔥 Fire Prevention Month visits continue! 🔥

Today, we had a fantastic time visiting the students at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, from Pre-K through 5th grade!

Students learned important fire and life safety lessons, participated in fun activities, and even got to see one of their teachers suit up in firefighter gear!

A special THANK YOU to St. Joseph’s Catholic School for welcoming us and allowing us to share these important lessons with your students!

🚒 Next stop: Peotone Elementary School!

We’re not done yet! Next week, we’ll wrap up Fire Prevention Month with even more school visits, hands-on learning, and firefighter fun!

Stay tuned for more adventures with Manhattan Fire!

🚌 Safety Starts with Our Drivers & Aides—and Every Transportation Professional Behind the Scenes!

As we begin National School Bus Safety Week, October 19–23, 2026, NASDPTS celebrates the dedicated people who help keep students safe each and every day.

Our drivers and aides provide attentive care on every ride. Behind the scenes, dispatchers coordinate routes and communication, maintenance staff keep buses ready for safe service, office staff support daily operations, and supervisors and directors lead teams with safety at the center.

To every school transportation professional: thank you for your skill, care, and commitment to our students.
Every role. Every student. Every day.

Yesterday was a beautiful day as we celebrated the dedication and blessing of our new Station 81!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this special occasion. Whether you attended the ceremony, toured our new station, or simply stopped by to share your kind words and excitement, your support means so much to our entire district.

This new station represents more than just a building. It’s a place where we will continue to serve, protect, and connect with the community we are so proud to call home.

We look forward to opening these doors again for future station tours, community events, promotional ceremonies, and opportunities to welcome our firefighters’ families and residents into our new home.

Thank you for being part of this exciting new chapter in the history of the Manhattan Fire Protection District!

And a special thank you to JLT Photography for capturing and sharing these wonderful photos of our new station!

We can’t wait to welcome you into the new station! Open house until 1pm! Come on by!

🚒🔥 Happy Friday from Manhattan Fire Protection District!

Today, we had the privilege of visiting all of the kindergarten students at Wilson Creek Elementary School!

This visit was extra special because Lieutenant Murphy’s son and nephew were among the amazing students we got to spend time with! ❤️

Firefighter Jackie had an especially proud moment today as our “big kids” remembered the important fire safety lessons they learned through NFPA’s Learn Not to Burn program back in preschool! 🥹👏

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Kid Country Childcare, First School, and Preschool For All for welcoming us into your classrooms and allowing us to build a foundation of fire and life safety education with your students.

Nearly every classroom we visited had students who could recall and recite lessons we taught them in previous years. That is what community risk reduction and early childhood education are all about! ❤️

It truly takes a village, and to say we’re proud of these young safety heroes is an understatement!

🚒 That’s a wrap on our Fire Prevention Month visits with Wilson Creek’s Pre-K and Kindergarten students! But we’re not done yet! We look forward to welcoming Wilson Creek’s first graders to our new fire station in November for station tours!

Next week, we’ll continue spreading fire safety knowledge with visits to:

🔥 St. Joseph Catholic School
🔥 First School for Lesson 4 of Learn Not to Burn
🔥 Peotone Elementary School

Little learners today, lifelong safety habits tomorrow! ❤️🚒
