As monarchs make their way south this fall, they need nectar-rich flowers to fuel their journey. Native plants provide the food and habitat these remarkable travelers need as they cross the Great Plains.

🎉 Yesterday was a special day. We hosted an Open House & Partnership Celebration with the Mount Mitchell Prairie Guards focused on our committment to maintain the Mount Mitchell Heritage Prairie Park, working to restore the prairie to its condition during Captain Mitchell’s time.

Special thanks to our event co-hosts and Dr. Jesse Nippert from Kansas State University for leading a hike and sharing about the impacts of woody encroachment in grassland ecosystems. 🌲
