This afternoon, around 3:30 PM, Company 26 was dispatched out for a vehicle accident reported with rollover and entrapment on Fruitville Pike. Rescue 26 and Utility 26-1 both made the response, along with Rescue 23 out of East Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company Station 23. Units arrived to find 1 vehicle on its side with the driver still trapped inside. Rescue 26 crew quickly stabilized the vehicle and cut the sun roof so the driver could self extricate.

While on scene of that MVA, another accident was dispatched in East Petersburg Borough and was quickly upgraded involving entrapment. Rescue 23 along with Rescue 26 both made the response. A Chief Officer from 23 arrived and discovered no entrapment, with that additional Rescue 26 was then recalled.

-Other Misc Skills

Manheim Fire Department is incredibly grateful for the opportunity and we certainly made the most of the building while we could.

This morning, just after 4AM, Company 26 along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to the first block of West Stiegel Street for a reported structure fire.

Assistant 26-2 arrived shortly after dispatch with nothing evident on the exterior. Engine 26 arrived soon after and discovered a working fire on the third floor. Crews had a quick knock on the visible fire. However due to the large amount of void spaces in the structure, the fire spread rapidly before it was located.

Engine 26 and Tower 26 Crews were operating on the third floor which quickly advanced to high heat and low visibility with fire throughout the entire Charlie side of the structure.

Crews from 26 and mutual aid companies successfully put a stop to the fire before there was any extension to the rest of the house. Crews operated on scene for just under 3 hours.

Thank you to our mutual aid companies that responded and assisted on scene.

Last Friday, the 14th, Manheim Fire Department was dispatched to Penryn Fire Company No. 1 first due for a reported structure fire. Caller was reporting their kitchen to be on fire. Chief 28-1 was first arriving line officer and reported a dwelling with heavy fire showing from the Charlie side and the roof.

Engine 26, Tower 26, and Tanker 26 all made the response with 8 personnel total. The Tower was second arriving apparatus, shortly behind Engine 28. Engine 26 arrived just behind the Tower. Crews from both engine companies made an aggressive attack on the fire. Tower 26 performed various truck company assignments. The Tanker arrived on scene shortly after other apparatus.

Crews were on scene for several hours before returning to station to clean tools, hose, fill cylinders, and get apparatus back in service.

During the structure fire, Rescue 26 was dispatched to a fire alarm at Pleasant View, another Penryn call. The Rescue made the response and assisted with that incident.

As always, thank you to Columbia Borough Fire Department Station 80 for standing by in our station during the incident.
