Starting on Wednesday, Nov. 4, I'm pleased to start offering a new opportunity to help veterans. On the first Wednesday of each month, a representative from the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania will be in my Manheim district office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help veterans with a variety of services. It's best to schedule an appointment ahead of time by calling 717-664-4979, but we may be able to accommodate some walk-ins. My district office is handicapped accessible.

Veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to receive these services. Please bring your DD214 and any VA paperwork or other documents that may help with assisting you.

One of the signature events of National 4-H Week is "Go Green Day," when individuals, businesses, and landmarks across the country wear and display green in support of 4-H and its mission.

Today, I had the opportunity to meet with Kelton Wenger from the 2026 4-H Communications Committee. Kelton is a resident of Rapho Township. We had a great conversation during his day here at the Capitol.

I am once again working with the Lititz VFW to properly retire old, word and tattered American flags. You can drop off your old flags in this bin at my table in Building #1 during the Manheim Fair from Oct. 5-9.

I enjoyed seeing Jackson Seabrease working hard to freshen up the town square gazebo in Manheim. A scout with Manheim Troop 307, Jackson is painting and restoring the gazebo for his Eagle Scout project. The task was suggested to him by Manheim Director of Public Works Eugene Gallagher. Jackson reached out to Longeneckers and Lezzer Lumber for donations for materials and has been working hard to get the project completed. Thanks for your work, Jackson! The gazebo is looking great.

We were able to make a dent in the "piles to be shredded" for several hundred folks from around the district last Saturday. Thanks to all who came by and took advantage of the free shredding - it was a great turnout!

Now through mid-December, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will be conducting its fall and winter trout stocking at dozens of waterways across Pennsylvania.

PFBC will stock approximately 114,700 hatchery-raised adult Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout in 117 stream sections and lakes. These stockings will replenish some of the most popular fishing spots across the Commonwealth and provide ice fishing opportunities as conditions allow throughout the winter. Trout stocked during fall and winter can be fished immediately.

The owners of the Compass Mill complex in Warwick Township invited me for a tour of their construction project in the former mill along Route 772. They have exciting plans to renovate the mill into a wedding and events venue and to continue breathing new life into the historic buildings around it.

I’m pleased that Compass Mill Complex LLC received state funding through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), a Commonwealth grant for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

It was impressive to see the attention to detail that’s going into this beautiful renovation project. I’m pictured here at the mill with project manager Ben Hasson and Mark Will, the managing member of Compass Mill Complex LLC.

Congratulations to the Manheim Historical Society for celebrating the 100th anniversary of Trolley Car No. 236! The trolley began service in 1926, running between Penn Square, the Pennsylvania Railroad Station, and other stops in and around Lancaster City. It remained in operation until 1947, when it was retired and fell into disrepair. More than 40 years later, the trolley made its way to Manheim, where the Manheim Historical Society restored it to the working condition it's in today.
