Today we’re giving a shoutout to one of our hometown businesses, Country General!

Whether you’re stopping in for gas, grabbing a fountain drink, picking up snacks, or just making a quick stop, Country General is a familiar place for many Manito residents.

One of the best things about living in a small town is walking into a business where you’re treated like a neighbor instead of just another customer.

Trick-or-treating will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

🏠 Please visit ONLY homes with their porch lights ON!

If you’re welcoming trick-or-treaters, be sure to turn your porch light on!

Attention: Manito Waterworks Customers

The water bills were mailed out on Friday, October 23, unfortunately there seems to be a delay with the postal service. The bills are sent to another location for processing, and it appears they have not been returned yet to the Manito Post Office for delivery.

Another option for receiving/viewing your water bill is our online portal.
The portal was created in Spring of 2026. We have had some residents register, but we wanted again send a reminder this is another way you can view your bill. You can still just drop your payment in our drop-box or bring to the Village Hall/Manito Waterworks office. You do not have to pay your bill online.

The Village of Manito/Manito Waterworks has upgraded our services to give residents access to view their water bills online! 🎉
You can now register your account online using the link below:

This new system will also help us communicate important information more efficiently — such as boil orders, emergency notifications, and other utility updates. Because of this, we strongly encourage ALL residents to make sure their contact information is current and accurate, including:
✔️ Phone number
✔️ Email address
Please note:
➡️ This is NOT a change to our billing system — it is simply an added service for your convenience.
➡️ You will also have the option to go paperless and receive your bill by email instead of by mail.
As with any new system, there may be a few questions or adjustments along the way. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we roll this out!

✅ If you are already enrolled in Auto-Pay (ACH), your payments will continue as usual.
✅ If you would like to enroll in Auto-Pay, please contact the office for the required form.
✅ Auto-payments are drafted from checking or savings accounts on the 10th of each month (or the next business day if the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday).

Grab your costumes, candy buckets, and the whole family because the Village of Manito’s TRUNK-OR-TREAT is almost here!

📅 Saturday, October 31
⏰ 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Midwest Central High School

Come enjoy a FREE evening of Halloween fun with our community!

🍬 TRUNK-OR-TREAT – Walk through a lineup of decorated vehicles and collect lots of goodies!

🎯 GAMES – Head inside for some Halloween fun!

📸 PHOTO OPS – Capture those creative, spooky, and adorable costumes!

🌭 FOOD & DRINKS – Hot dogs, hot cocoa, and water!

🚗 WE NEED YOUR TRUNKS, TOO! 🚗

Community members, businesses, clubs, and organizations are invited to join the fun by decorating a vehicle and handing out candy!

Here’s what you need to know:

🎃 Decorate your trunk in your favorite Halloween theme!

🎃 Line up in front of Midwest Central High School by 4:45 PM.

🎃 Bring store-bought, individually wrapped candy to hand out.

🎃 All participating vehicles must remain in place until the event ends at 7:00 PM.

🏆 AND THERE’S A PRIZE FOR THE BEST DECORATED TRUNK! So get creative and bring your Halloween spirit!

🚘 PARKING: Event attendees should park on the north or south side of the high school.
