🚒 **Congratulations on Your Retirement, Engineer Tim Ellis!**

After nearly 22 years of dedicated service, Engineer Tim Ellis is celebrating his retirement from the Mansfield Fire Department!

Tim spent 15 of those years serving as an Engineer, playing a vital role in keeping his crews safe and ready to respond whenever the call came. He finished his career at Station 4 on A-Shift, closing out more than two decades of service to the Mansfield community.

Throughout his career, Tim built lasting friendships, shared countless memories, and made an impact on those fortunate enough to serve alongside him. His dedication and commitment to the fire service are sincerely appreciated, and his presence around the firehouse will certainly be missed.

Tim, thank you for your nearly 22 years of service to the Mansfield Fire Department and the citizens of Mansfield. We wish you and your family continued success, happiness, and all the best in this next chapter.

**Congratulations, Engineer Ellis, on a well-earned retirement from MFD!**

**Honoring Tradition. Celebrating Excellence.**

From October 4–9, Mansfield Fire Department had the privilege of hosting the National Honor Guard Academy, welcoming firefighters and public safety professionals from across the country to Mansfield for a week of intensive training, tradition, and fellowship.

This year's Academy was especially meaningful to our department. Mansfield Fire Department has a connection to the Academy's beginnings, when Mansfield first created an organized honor guard approximately 22 years ago, making the opportunity to host this amazing and nationally recognized training particularly special.

Throughout the week, participants trained in the precision, discipline, and ceremonial traditions that define Honor Guard service. But the purpose of this training extends far beyond ceremony. It prepares members to honor those who have served, particularly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, while providing dignity, comfort, and support to the families they leave behind.

**We are especially proud to congratulate four of our own members — Josh Hall, Garde Bowles, Anthony Nguyen, and Nick Johnson — on successfully graduating from the National Honor Guard Academy!**

Their commitment to this specialized training reflects the pride, professionalism, and dedication to service that we strive to uphold at Mansfield Fire Department. We are proud to have them represent our department and carry these important traditions forward.

An event of this magnitude takes tremendous coordination and community support. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the following organizations for helping make this year's Academy a success:

- National Honor Guard Academy and its instructors
- Mansfield Funeral Home
- Skyvue Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens
- Fat Daddy's
- Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association (CFAAA)
- Mansfield Activities Center

Your generosity, partnership, and willingness to support this event helped make the week a memorable experience for everyone involved.

To all the participants who traveled from across the country, thank you for bringing your dedication, professionalism, and passion for Honor Guard service to Mansfield. Congratulations to all of this year's graduates!

**Honor. Dignity. Respect.**

It was a busy weekend for the Mansfield Fire Department, with crews responding to multiple motor vehicle collisions, including two vehicle extrications.

Our firefighters worked to safely access and assist those involved while providing emergency medical care and managing hazards at the scenes.

We remind everyone to stay alert, avoid distractions and drive safely.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Mansfield Fire Department Engine 5 was struck while positioned to protect Truck 3 and Medic 3 while working at the scene of a previous accident on southbound SH 360.

All three members inside Engine 5 were wearing their seat belts and are okay.

Engine 5 was intentionally positioned as a protective barrier between approaching traffic and the crews working at the previous accident scene. This blocking position is a critical roadway-safety practice that provides responders the space needed to safely care for patients and reduce the risk of secondary crashes.

Roadway incidents are among the most dangerous environments for emergency responders. We understand that lane closures can be frustrating, but they are necessary to protect responders and the people they are helping.

When approaching an emergency scene, please slow down, move over when it is safe to do so, put away distractions, and follow directions from emergency personnel.

After being struck by the vehicle, Engine 5 crew got out and immediately went to work to pop the jammed door open and began tending to the driver who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Help us make sure everyone gets home safely.

Mansfield Fire Department crews recently participated in active-threat and mass casualty incident training alongside Mansfield Police Department and MPD SWAT team.

Realistic training scenarios give first responders the opportunity to practice coordinated response, communication, and rapid patient care in a high-stress environment. Training together strengthens the relationships and teamwork needed to provide the best possible response when seconds matter.

We pray this training is never needed, but preparation like this helps ensure our first responders are ready to protect and care for our community in its most critical moments.

A special thank you to the Mansfield Police Department and SWAT team for their partnership and commitment to keeping our community safe, as well as our EMS division and MFD SWAT members for their efforts in structuring and leading this training. We are proud of the dedication shown by everyone involved.

Yesterday at approximately 6:25 p.m., Mansfield Fire Department responded to a fire at a three-story apartment building in the 1300 block of Lowe Street after dispatch received multiple 911 calls.

Arriving crews found fire and smoke coming from the roof. Given the size of the building and the conditions firefighters encountered, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm. Crews brought the fire under control without incident. No injuries to residents or emergency personnel were reported.

Residents from 28 apartment units were displaced. We are working with the American Red Cross to connect those affected with assistance and resources. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

We are grateful for the automatic and mutual aid provided by Grand Prairie Fire Department, ArlingtonTx Fire, and Midlothian Fire Department, as well as the coordinated efforts of our dispatchers and law enforcement partners.

Great job to our A-Shift crews for their hard work, professionalism, and coordinated response throughout the incident.
