Fall has finally arrived! Now is a good time to check your flue pipe and chimneys, before building the first fire of the year! The warm temperatures in the day, and cool temperatures at night, can cause excess creosote to build up in a flue, leading to flue fires.

**Appreciation Post**

This afternoon our crews responded to 3 calls in a short span of time. One of those calls was a very challenging scene with a high angle rescue situation after a motor vehicle collision. The vehicle traveled down a very steep embankment coming to rest near a rock cliff. The vehicle could not be seen or accessed from the roadway and required several trees to be cut down with a chainsaw to gain access. Crews then had to utilize ropes and a Stokes rescue basket to move the patient several feet up from the ravine to the highway and ambulance. All of this was performed with protective gear during the hottest part of the day.

We sent a crew member to Signal South to pick up bottled water for the personnel on scene. I returned this evening to pay for the drinks that were obtained earlier to be informed that an anonymous person had already paid for all of our drinks. We want to recognize our responders for the hard work and excellent response and also send a huge thank you to the person who paid for our items.

Also thank you to all of the other responding agencies. Mercy EMS, Mansfield Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Wright County Sheriff’s Department, and Yates Boys Towing.

Our area, is under a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH until 06-27-2026 at 1 am. There is a tornado warning just south of our coverage area, in Douglas County. If you are near the Wright/Douglas County Line on Highway, you should be taking shelter!!
