Richland County Mental Health And Recovery Services Board Facilitate & maintain collaborative, trauma informed, recovery oriented services for individuals see Establishment of RCMHB!

Founded in 1968 as the Board of Mental Health and Mental Retardation the Board had two local service providers. In 1989 mental health and mental retardation split and alcohol and drug addiction services were added resulting in what is now know as the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (or ADAMH) Board. With a newly formed Board and six service providers, the Board set out to reinvent itself to address a new population with dedication toward recovery and stability of all Richland County residents in need. Currently, the Board has partner agencies that offer services to those suffering from mental illness and substance dependence. The Mission of the Richland County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is to secure sufficient funds to plan, establish and maintain unified services primarily for the mentally ill, drug or alcohol dependent individuals, their families and the general population. Toward these ends, the Board shall: encourage the development of high quality, cost effective, and comprehensive services; adapt to the changing needs, especially for severely mentally disabled children, adolescents and adults; fulfill the mandates of the Ohio Revised Code; and promote the integrity and individuality of consumers of mental health and drug and alcohol services. Going forward, the Board will continue its dedication to the recovery of Richland County residents by seeking and managing Federal, State and Local funds to address the ever changing needs of this community.

Start the conversation. It could save a life.

In this important interview, CACY Executive Director Tracee Anderson discusses the 2026 theme for World Su***de Prevention Day and Su***de Prevention Month: โ€œStart the Conversation.โ€

Anderson explains that men account for approximately 70% to 85% of su***de deaths in Richland County. Many are employed and connected to families, friends and social groups reminding us that someone can appear connected while still struggling privately.

She also shares warning signs and the โ€œ3 Cโ€™s of Caringโ€:

โ€ข Connection - Ask questions, listen and create space for honest conversations about feelings.

โ€ข Collaboration - Work alongside someone who is struggling and help connect them with appropriate support.

โ€ข Choice - Empower people and support the positive choices they make toward help and recovery.

Watch the interview, learn the warning signs and help start conversations that could make a difference.

If you or someone you know needs immediate support, call the Crisis Helpline at 419-522-HELP.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Throughout the month, the Richland County Mental Health & Recovery Services Board and our community partners will be sharing resources, creating opportunities to connect, and starting conversations about mental health and su***de prevention.

We'll also be highlighting local events, support groups, ways to get help, and simple things each of us can do to look out for the people around us.

Because sometimes making a difference starts with something as simple as a conversation.

Send the text.
Make the call.
Sit down and talk.
Ask someone how they're really doing.

Follow along with us throughout September. There's a lot happening in Richland County and a lot of reasons to keep the conversation going.
