Local nonprofit Dare Arts is hosting Letters From Home, a powerful evening of song, dance, and storytelling, at The Pioneer Theater in Manteo on Saturday, November 7 at 7:00pm.

Letters From Home is a patriotic tribute featuring timeless music from the 1940s through today with a mission to honor Veterans and unite people through music. There will be high-energy singing and tap dancing by ​Letters From Home founder Erinn Dearth and her husband Dan Beckmann.

This performance is free and open to the public, but tickets must be reserved in advance online at DareArts.org/veterans. All seating is first come, first served.

Together with Outer Banks Health and Thrive OBX, the Outer Banks Community Foundation is proud to sponsor the second annual Woods Walk for the Kerry Sanders Memorial Fund.

Kerry Sanders touched countless lives through her passion for fitness, her gift for making everyone feel welcome, and her belief in the power of movement and community—a legacy that lives on through the Woods Walk and the memorial fund established in her honor at the Community Foundation.

The event will be held on Sunday, October 25 at 11am, starting at the Outer Banks YMCA's Upper Lot.

Planted Potential is a workforce development project created by local nonprofit Verdant Minds and supported through an Impact Grant from the Outer Banks Community Foundation.

Founded by horticulturist and educator Tanya Lamo, Verdant Minds creates workforce development opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with a focus on horticulture, customer service, hospitality, and life skills.

Our final grant cycle of 2026 is for Impact Grants, which are open to all types of projects with no restrictions on scope or focus, with funding requests exceeding $10,000.

The 4th Annual OBX Chasing Rainbows 5K and Fun Run is this Sunday (October 18) at 8:30am in Kill Devil Hills.

The Chasing Rainbows 5k is an annual charity race that occurs every October to pay tribute to Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month. Proceeds raised from the race go directly towards free grief counseling and providing grief support toolkits for bereaved families.

In March of this year, OBCF awarded a $10,000 Community Enrichment Grant to the Community Care Clinic of Dare to support the Tooth Fairy Fund.

The fund, administered through the Community Care Clinic of Dare in partnership with Interfaith Community Outreach, provides financial assistance for medically necessary dental treatment for qualifying uninsured adults.
