If you get approved for SNAP benefits in the State of North Carolina, you will receive an EBT card (Electronic Benefits Transfer). This card works similarly to a debit card and allows you to have your benefits available to you more easily.

You can use your EBT card at different stores including grocery stores, some gas station mini-marts, convenience stores and even at some local farmers markets.

For questions about EBT or SNAP in North Carolina, contact your local DSS office. You can find a directory for each county in North Carolina by visiting www.ncdhhs.gov/localDSS

Don’t forget that you can use your SNAP benefits at some local farmers markets. At the welcome table at the farmers market, ask if they accept EBT as a form of payment. If they do, they should give you a market scrip in exchange for your EBT payment.

Keep in mind that at some markets the option to use EBT depends on the vendor.

Contact our office for more information on farmers markets in Dare County.
