Dodge County Board Approves Preliminary Budget
At its regular meeting on Sept. 22, the Dodge County Board of Commissioners approved the 2027 preliminary budget.
The total budget is $43,986,813, with the 2027 preliminary levy set at $20,213,369, a 6.3% increase from 2026.
The primary factors affecting the levy are cost shifts from state and federal governments related to Human Services, inmate boarding costs, personnel costs, and unknown revenues that will be determined before final certification.
The preliminary budget and levy will be used to calculate Truth in Taxation notices, which will be mailed to Dodge County property owners in early November.
Before the final budget hearing on Dec. 10, the budget and levy may be refined. The county board has indicated its intention to lower the 2027 levy from the preliminary 6.3% increase before final certification. With the preliminary levy now set, the levy cannot be increased.
The Truth in Taxation hearing is open to the public and is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Government Services Building, 721 N. Main St. N., Mantorville.
