Did you know that there is currently a moratorium on data centers in Blue Earth County? This means that there is a temporary ban on new data centers in our entire county. While this is currently temporary, Blue Earth County would like to gain feedback from residents to develop a permanent policy. They are hosting two open houses, one here at the Mapleton Community Center, to provide residents with the opportunity to provide input, ask questions, and gain knowledge about what data centers would mean in our county.
If you cannot make it to the open house, please consider reviewing this informational webpage and completing the survey https://www.blueearthcountymn.gov/1706/Data-Centers
Please note, there are no proposals for a data center being considered in Mapleton, this is exclusively being used by the county to gain feedback as they develop a permanent policy for the future.
Blue Earth County is hosting two open houses to obtain input from the public regarding data centers and potential standards.
The open houses will be:
-Tues, Oct 20 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mapleton Community Center, 304 2nd Ave NE, Mapleton MN 56065
-Mon, Oct 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Lake Crystal City Hall, 100 E. Robinson St Lake Crystal MN 56055
Can’t make either of the open houses? The County is gathering feedback through an online survey that will be available until November 15, 2026.
