๐Ÿฉธโค๏ธ A TRUE COMMUNITY HERO! 19 GALLONS OF BLOOD DONATED! โค๏ธ๐Ÿฉธ

๐Ÿš’ Mapleton Fire & Rescue is proud to recognize one of our own, volunteer LISA HONE, for reaching an extraordinary milestone: donating 19 GALLONS of blood through the American Red Cross!

Lisa is a true community hero whose dedication to helping others goes far beyond her volunteer service with our department. Not only does she coordinate and organize our Mapleton Fire & Rescue blood drives, helping countless others give the gift of life, but she also rolls up her own sleeve and literally gives of herself!

Through years of selfless donations, Lisa has made an incredible difference in the lives of people she may never meet.

๐Ÿฉธ Letโ€™s put 19 gallons into perspective:

โค๏ธ 152 pints of blood donated! Thatโ€™s the equivalent of approximately 152 standard whole-blood donations.

โค๏ธ Up to 456 lives potentially impacted! The American Red Cross estimates that one whole-blood donation can help save up to three lives when its components are used for different patients. Thatโ€™s a potential impact of hundreds of lives!

โค๏ธ Decades of dedication! At the standard whole-blood donation interval of 56 days, reaching 152 donations would take more than 23 years.

โค๏ธ A lifeline for patients in need! Donated blood helps trauma victims, cancer patients, surgical patients, mothers experiencing childbirth complications, and countless others facing life-threatening emergencies.

Lisa, thank you for your incredible generosity, your dedication to our department, and your unwavering commitment to serving others. You donโ€™t just encourage people to make a differenceโ€”you lead by example!

๐Ÿ‘ Please join us in congratulating Lisa on this remarkable achievement and thanking her for being a true community hero!

๐Ÿš’ Congratulations to Mapleton Fire & Rescueโ€™s Newest Full-time Fire Engineer, Mark Gordon! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’

Tonight, we had the privilege of celebrating Mark Gordon as he was officially sworn in as a Fire Engineer with Mapleton Fire & Rescue!

Mark has proudly served Mapleton part-time for the past five years and has also gained valuable experience working previously for the Spanish Fork and Tremonton Fire Departments.

Growing up in a family dedicated to public service, Mark developed a passion for helping others at an early age. His hard work, dedication, and commitment to the fire service have earned him this well-deserved promotion.

Outside the firehouse, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Emily, exploring the outdoors, mountain biking, and adventuring with their dog.

We are proud of Mark and excited to see him take this next step in his career. We also recognize the important support of his family throughout his journey.

Please join us in congratulating Engineer Mark Gordon on his promotion! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš’

Welcome Engineer Paramedic Brian Fish! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Last week at the Mapleton City Council meeting, we had the opportunity to officially swear in Brian Fish as one of Mapleton Fire Rescueโ€™s new full-time Fire Engineers.

Brian brings nearly three decades of fire service experience to Mapleton. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter in Arizona before moving to Utah and earning his fire service certifications and associate degrees in Fire Science and Paramedic Medicine.

Brian went on to serve 25 years with Provo Fire & Rescue, gaining extensive experience and numerous certifications and specialties throughout his career. After retiring from Provo and spending two years away from the fire service, Brian realized how much he missed the camaraderie, teamwork, and opportunity to serve, so in early 2026, he joined Mapleton Fire Rescue as a part-time Firefighter Paramedic.

We are excited to now have Brian serving our community as a full-time Engineer Paramedic. His experience, knowledge, and commitment to service will be a tremendous asset to our department and the citizens of Mapleton.

Please join us in congratulating Engineer Paramedic Brian Fish on his new position and welcoming him to this next chapter of his fire service career!

Congratulations, Brian! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

MIRACLE IN MAPLETON

Tonight, the Mapleton City Council recognized members of Mapleton Fire Rescue, Mapleton Police Department, and Mapleton Public Works for their extraordinary response to the June 11 trench collapse on the south end of our city.

Background: A worker installing a residential sewer line approximately nine feet below ground was completely buried when the trench collapsed. Despite the tremendous weight of the soil, a small air pocket allowed the trapped individual to breathe and communicate with rescuers.

For more than 97 minutes, personnel from multiple agencies worked together through an extremely dangerous and technically complex rescue. Because of their training, courage, and cooperation, the individual was successfully removed from the trench alive and transferred to Life Flight.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Springville Mapleton Public Safety Dispatch, Central Utah 911, Life Flight, the Utah County Special Response Team, and the trench rescue specialists and resources from Provo, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lehi, Spanish Fork, Springville, and Utah County Fire.

This outcome was not the result of one person, one agency, or one piece of equipment. Every person had a role. Every role mattered. Every second mattered.

Tonight, we proudly recognized these dedicated public servants for making a difference and saving a life.

A true Miracle in Mapleton

Mapleton Multifamily Structure Fire

Just after 6:00 p.m. today, units from Mapleton Fire, Spanish Fork Fire, Springville Fire, and Provo Fire responded to a reported multifamily structure fire on the south end of town.

Upon arrival, crews found light smoke coming from a first floor garage and quickly extinguished a small fire involving personal belongings and an interior garage wall. Several residential units were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. There was no fire extension into the living spaces, and all residents have safely returned to their homes.

The fire was determined to have been caused by improperly discarded charcoal briquettes from a barbecue. The garage fire sprinkler system activated and helped control the fire until firefighters arrived.

Safety reminder: Charcoal can remain hot enough to ignite a fire long after use. Always allow charcoal and ashes to cool completely before disposal, and place them in a metal container away from combustible materials.

We extend our sincere thanks to our mutual aid partners for their quick and coordinated response to todayโ€™s incident.

๐ŸŽ† Celebrate safely this Pioneer Day! ๐ŸŽ†

Thanks to the cooperation of our community, we had a safe and successful Fourth of July holiday. We'd love to continue that success through the July 24th celebrations!
Please take a moment to review the updated fireworks restriction map before lighting fireworks. While a few areas have been adjusted based on conditions and feedback, everyone should remain aware of their surroundings, even in areas where fireworks are permitted.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Before lighting fireworks, make sure you are at least 200 feet away from dry grass, brush, weeds, trees, fields, trails, waterways, or other combustible vegetation. If conditions aren't safe, please choose another location or enjoy one of the many professional fireworks shows in the area.

๐Ÿ“… Legal discharge dates and times:
โ€ข July 22โ€“25
โ€ข 11:00 AMโ€“11:00 PM
โ€ข Until 12:00 Midnight on July 24

Remember, the map identifies areas where fireworks may be allowedโ€”it does not guarantee that every location is safe. You are responsible for using fireworks safely and legally. View the interactive and pdf maps at mapleton-ut.gov.

Thank you for helping keep Mapleton safe so everyone can enjoy the holiday! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽ‡
