MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Yesterday, August 25th at 1:05pm, Stone Ridge Fire, High Falls Fire, and Marbletown First Aid unit were dispatched for a two car motor vehicle accident at the United States Post Office at 3765 Main St. Units responded and arrived on scene to find two vehicles with airbags deployed blocking both lanes. High Falls assisted on scene by closing Main St at the Stone Ridge Plaza and 58-15 (Rescue 2) closed the road at Cooper St. Two patients were evaluated, one of which was transported to a local area hospital. Once the vehicles were removed by tow, all units returned to service and the roadway was reopened.

Stone Ridge Fire took its final delivery of the new 58-14 Rosenbauer Avenger (pictured on the right in the first picture with 58-12) the second to last Avenger ever produced. This new rescue/engine will replace the outgoing E-One, and we couldn’t be more excited to have this new piece of equipment in service.
The outgoing 58-14 is being sold, in the near future, and members will continue to mount equipment, pack hose, and fine tune the new apparatus prior to it going into service in the next week or so.

We continue to thank the public and the fire commissioners for replacing apparatus when it’s needed and when it’s no longer suitable to the needs of the members. This is done responsibly and takes years of planning from the inception of the truck committee to the final delivery.

This is the second piece of equipment to be replaced this year, and we will be updating you on the other piece of apparatus in the very near future.

Over the last week, one of our officers, along with multiple personnel from agencies across New York State, attended the NYS Swiftwater/Floodwater Technician Level course offered at the Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany, NY.

The 32-hour course consisted of a variety of swiftwater and floodwater rescue scenarios. Participants learned essential rescue techniques, hazard recognition, victim management, and the safe operation of specialized equipment used during water-related emergencies.

This training will help our members better prepare for the diverse water rescue incidents that may occur throughout our growing district, which now includes a portion of the Esopus Creek. As water-related emergencies can be unpredictable and dangerous, maintaining a high level of training is critical to ensuring the safety of both responders and the public.

Our members are constantly seeking opportunities to expand their knowledge and sharpen their skills through ongoing training and education. Their dedication helps ensure that we remain prepared to provide the highest level of service to our community, no matter the emergency.

Come join us, next Saturday night, June 20th, from 4:00pm-6:00pm for our annual chicken BBQ!
