Hello, Margate!
The city's Communications Division has been recognized with two 2026 Telly Awards for storytelling that highlights our community.
Our "Bark in the Park" event preview received a Silver Telly Award in the Pets & Animals category, and we received a Bronze Telly Award in the Social Impact category for our story on U.S. Army Spc. Daniel J. Agami, a war hero who attended elementary school in Margate.
The video followed the renaming of a local bridge in his honor, not just as a physical connection between communities, but as a lasting tribute to Daniel’s legacy of service and sacrifice.

A Message from the Mayor:
On behalf of the Margate City Commission, we want to remind every resident that hurricane preparation is one of the most important steps we can take to protect our families, homes, and community as we enter hurricane season on June 1st.
Here in South Florida, and especially in Margate, we are no strangers to hurricane activity. Our region has historically been a hotspot for tropical storms and hurricanes, and while forecasters are predicting this season to be normal to slightly below normal, it only takes one storm to make a major impact.
Now is the time to prepare — not when a storm is already approaching.
We encourage all residents to take a few simple preparedness steps today:
• Review your family emergency plan and evacuation routes.
• Stock up on essential supplies, including water, non-perishable food, medications, batteries, and flashlights.
• Check your hurricane shutters and secure loose outdoor items.
• Make sure important documents are stored safely and digitally backed up.
• Fuel vehicles and generators safely before a storm is imminent.
• Sign up for emergency alerts and stay informed through official city and county channels.
Preparedness not only protects your household, but it also helps our entire community recover faster after a storm.
For additional information and detailed hurricane readiness resources, we encourage residents to review Broward County's Hurricane Preparedness Guide:
www.broward.org/Hurricane/Documents/HurricanePreparednessGuide.pdf
The City of Margate remains committed to keeping our residents informed and prepared throughout hurricane season. Together, through preparation and community partnership, we can weather any storm.
Stay safe and stay prepared,
Mayor Antonio V. Arserio, FRA-RP
City of Margate
