πŸš’β€οΈ A GOOD NIGHT'S REST, COURTESY OF A GREAT COMMUNITY PARTNER!

We want to give a BIG shoutout to The Sleep Center of Panama City for their generous donation of much-needed mattresses to several of our Jackson County Fire Rescue stations!

When Fire Rescue Chief Charlie Brunner began looking into the cost of replacing some of the mattresses at our fire stations, he learned something pretty wonderful. The Sleep Center has a supply of mattresses specifically designated for donations to organizations like fire departments, and they were more than happy to help!

And today, they delivered!

Our firefighters and paramedics work long shifts, often spending nights away from their families and answering calls at all hours. Having a comfortable place to rest between those calls is something we don't take for granted.

To The Sleep Center of Panama City, THANK YOU! Your generosity helps us take care of the people who spend their days and nights taking care of our community.

We're grateful for businesses that recognize the importance of supporting our first responders and are willing to step up and make a difference!

USE CAUTION | Windy Conditions Expected This Weekend

The National Weather Service is forecasting windy conditions across our area beginning Friday night and continuing through the weekend and into early next week.

Wind gusts of 30–40 mph are possible as a cold front moves through the region.

With some residents still cleaning up debris and damage from Hurricane Isaias, we encourage everyone to take a few extra precautions:

β€’ Secure loose outdoor items, including tarps, decorations, and anything that could be blown around by strong winds.
β€’ Watch for damaged or weakened trees and limbs that could fall during gusty conditions.
β€’ Use extra caution with outdoor burning. Strong winds can cause fires to spread quickly. If you're planning to burn storm debris or yard waste, consider waiting until winds calm down.

Rainfall is not expected with this cold front, but a Wind Advisory may be issued if conditions warrant. Please stay weather-aware.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Jackson County Fire Rescue Employees Celebrating Years of Service!

Today, we're recognizing two members of our Jackson County Fire Rescue team who were recently honored for their years of service!

Lynn Price | Office Manager | 15 Years

Affectionately known as the department's "chaos coordinator," Lynn is the backbone that helps keep Fire Rescue running! From managing the daily demands of a busy department to keeping things organized behind the scenes, she's spent 15 years helping make sure our first responders have the support they need to serve our community.

Every department needs someone who can keep up with the chaos, and Fire Rescue is fortunate to have Lynn!

Chase Maddox | Firefighter/Paramedic | 5 Years

Chase was recognized for five years of dedicated service, but his recognition carried a little extra meaning this year.

Following a serious motor vehicle accident earlier this year, Chase was able to join his Fire Rescue family and the Board of County Commissioners in person to receive his service award.

Although he hasn't yet returned to duty, seeing him there was a special moment for his fellow firefighters, leadership, and everyone who has been cheering him on throughout his recovery.

Please join us in congratulating Lynn and Chase on their service milestones!

Thank you, Lynn and Chase, for your dedication to Jackson County. And Chase, we're all continuing to cheer you on!

FOR Jackson. FOR Future. FOR You.

πŸš’ THE STORM MAY HAVE PASSED, BUT THE CALLS DIDN'T STOP.

While Jackson County was beginning recovery efforts following Hurricane Isaias, our firefighters and emergency responders were still answering the call.

Over the weekend, Jackson County Fire Rescue responded to multiple fire emergencies, including:

πŸ”₯ A structure fire near Jefferson and Davis Streets in Marianna, where Jackson County Fire Rescue worked alongside Marianna Fire Department.

πŸ”₯ A fire involving a FEMA trailer bathroom unit later that evening.

And these emergencies were happening while Fire Rescue personnel were also supporting ongoing hurricane recovery operations, including assistance for residents with critical oxygen needs.

It's a reminder that even during a major storm and its aftermath, everyday emergencies don't take a break.

Our firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics continue showing up for our community, whether it's a storm-related emergency, a structure fire, or a medical call.

❀️ Thank you to Jackson County Fire Rescue, Marianna Fire Department, and our fellow emergency response partners for the long hours, teamwork, and dedication to keeping our community safe.

And to the families of our first responders who share their loved ones with the community during these long shifts, thank you, too.

The work doesn't stop when the storm does. πŸš’

When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly. For more info: fpw.org.

HURRICANE ISAIAS | STORM DEBRIS INFORMATION
Saturday, October 10

In the aftermath following Hurricane Isaias, we want to provide an important update regarding storm debris collection.

Based on the nature and extent of the storm's impacts, Jackson County will not be activating its storm debris contractors for residential debris collection in unincorporated areas of the county.

⚠️ WHAT THIS MEANS FOR RESIDENTS:
If you live in unincorporated Jackson County (outside incorporated city or town limits), please DO NOT move or push storm debris from your property into the public right-of-way in anticipation of a County debris pickup.

The County's storm debris contractors will not be collecting this material, and debris placed along roadways could create additional hazards for motorists, emergency responders, and road maintenance crews.

🏘️ LIVE WITHIN CITY OR TOWN LIMITS?
Residents living within incorporated municipalities should refer to their respective city or town's official communication channels for information regarding local debris collection and recovery efforts. Municipal procedures may differ from those of the County.

🚧 PLEASE REMEMBER: Keep roadways, drainage areas, and rights-of-way clear of debris to help maintain safe travel and prevent additional drainage problems.

Thank you for helping keep Jackson County's roads safe and accessible!
