We are incredibly proud of our very own program specialist, Brandi, who traveled to Washington, D.C., as one of the 2026 Georgia representatives for the National Council on Aging's Hill Day! She met directly with House and Senate leaders to advocate for the issues impacting our older adults, and we are so grateful for her dedication to sharing our community's stories.

At the March 26 Cobb County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board officially proclaimed May as Older Americans Month in Cobb County! This year’s theme, “Champion Your Health,” which focuses on prevention, wellness, and the personal steps we can take to age healthily and independently, something Cobb County Senior Services is proud to help with every day.

Commissioner Keli Gambrill also presented our team with a check for $2,325, raised during the recent Battle of the Paddles Pickleball Tournament!

Connect with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department this June. Come ask questions, share concerns, and talk with local law enforcement. Both events are free, but registration is required.

Our latest Wellness Wednesday at North Cobb Senior Center featured "Peace of Mind: Managing Anxiety in Later Life," presented by Jennifer L. Modi, LCSW, of Northside Hospital (Canton) Behavioral Health Sciences. We learned that more than 20% of older adults go undiagnosed with anxiety because doctors frequently mistake the symptoms for other health concerns. Jennifer shared invaluable tools on how to advocate for our own mental well-being, and we are incredibly grateful to Northside Hospital for this vital series.

Our friends at the Senior Citizens Council of Cobb County are getting ready for their 2nd Annual Born to be a Senior Charity Ride! Check out the post below for more details! A great way to have some fun and support some great causes, including our own Meals on Wheels program!

It’s a great time to plan a trip to the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Gardens! Join us for a leisurely stroll through seasonal blooms, followed by a delicious lunch at their indoor café. Treat yourself to a relaxing day of stunning scenery, fresh air, and great company.

This Older Americans Month, the theme “Champion Your Health” highlights the many ways older adults can support their well-being and independence. Throughout May, we’re spotlighting programs across Cobb County Senior Services, including our Care Management team, which helps older adults and caregivers connect with resources and support during difficult times.

“People don’t know where to go. They don’t know who to call,” says Tanya Richards, Care Manager with Cobb County Senior Services.

Care managers work one-on-one with seniors to help them find solutions, access support, and feel less overwhelmed during stressful situations. As Tanya shares, “We help them realize that they’re not alone.”
