Each year, Cobb County reviews and updates its codes to ensure they remain effective, clear, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Over time, state laws, best practices, and community needs evolve, and the code must be updated to reflect these changes. Regular revisions help prevent outdated or conflicting rules, ensuring the code continues to serve both residents and businesses fairly.

Today is National Pets for Veterans Day, observed every Oct. 21, celebrating the profound bond between veterans and their companion animals.

Cobb Animal Services has an amazing initiative that pairs shelter animals with local veterans for comfort and companionship. Superior Pets for Patriotic Vets, Sponsored by Superior Plumbing, enables Cobb to do this free of charge, every day of the year, not just Wednesday.

The companionship of a pet can provide immeasurable comfort and joy, and this program makes it possible for veterans to experience this bond. Since its inception in 2017, 272 pets have found their forever homes.

If you're a veteran looking for a loyal companion, here is how to adopt:

1. Visit Cobb County Animal Services 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta.

2. View available shelter animals online or schedule an appointment via Cobb County Animal Services. https://www.cobbcounty.gov/animal-services/adoption

3. Complete Paperwork and inform staff that you are a military veteran applying through the Superior Pets for Patriotic Vets initiative.
