Someone heard "runway" and showed up to the bay ready for their close up. I'm not sure they knew what kind of runway we were talking about, but if the shoe fits..

Reserve-ready airlift starts long before takeoff. When it comes to our C-130H engines and propellors, our aerospace propulsion technicians are ready!

Engine troops are responsible for scheduled maintenance and resolving major discrepancies that directly impact aircraft performance and safety. Their work ensures the C-130H remains mission-ready by keeping inspections on track, identifying problems before they escalate and sustaining reliable airlift capability around the globe.

To the 94th and all who have served across the nation, thank you. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Across generations, Americans have answered the nation’s call β€” knowing the cost.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who never came home.

No maintainers = No mission. It’s that simple.

From engines and ISO to dedicated crew chiefs and hydro, here's a sneak peek into some of the day-to-day maintenance happening in the backshop, where preventative maintenance is the difference between a grounded aircraft and a mission-ready fleet.

Every day, our maintainers embody "Fly, Fix, Fight."

Okay hold on, did anyone else know that a C-130 could land on an AIRCRAFT CARRIER??

To be more precise, in the fall of 1963, over the course of a few days, Lt. James H. Flatley III and crew successfully performed 29 touch-and-gos and 21 unassisted landings and takeoffs on the USS Forrestal using a Marine KC-130F Hercules, a C-130H variant.

Before starting the trials, the aircraft was modified with the following: a smaller nose-landing gear or***ce, an improved anti-skid braking system and the removal of underwing refueling pods. During the flights, the aircraft's weight was gradually increased to a total of 121,000 pounds.

To add even more WOW! factor to the flight crew's achievement, it is stated the seas were, at minimum, moderately rough during the trials.

U.S. Navy, if you're free later this week I've always wanted a to hold a world record. I'm thinking we add a couple pounds and shoot for the stars!

DISCLAIMER: This did happen in the 60s; however, there are zero intentions of replicating this for any reason. The facts are accurate but my Navy quip is just for giggles.

In the actual words of Capt. Andrew Shepley when asked his favorite part about being a C-130H pilot at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, he stated: "My favorite part about working at Dobbins is I get to interact with you and the best Public Affairs team in the Air Force!"

When pressed for another statement, he said: "My favorite part about being a pilot at Dobbins is the close-knit community. Everyone not only works together on a professional level, but we also know each other on a personal level."

I, Tech. Sgt. Daniel, concur and approve this message πŸ‘

Airmen came together to run, connect and prioritize readiness during the 10th Annual Falcon 5K and Mental and Physical Health Awareness Fair this past weekend. From the starting line to the resource booths, the event reinforced one message: taking care of our people is essential to accomplishing the mission.
