🚒🌳 MARINA FIRE DEPARTMENT — PUBLIC SAFETY REMINDER

Marina Fire Department responded to an incident involving a tree that broke and fell onto three vehicles. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

This incident serves as an important reminder that falling trees and broken branches can create serious hazards for our community.

🌳 Public Safety Tips:

Stay clear of fallen trees, damaged limbs, and trees that appear unstable.
Never approach downed power lines. Always assume they are energized.
Avoid parking or standing beneath large trees during strong winds or severe weather.
For non-emergency tree hazards affecting city streets or public areas, submit a service request through Marina Connect: https://www.cityofmarina.org/1425/Marina-Connect
If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911.
We’re grateful that no one was injured in this incident. Please remain alert, be aware of your surroundings, and take precautions when hazardous conditions arise.

🚒 Help us keep all four wheels on the ground! 😉

See emergency lights and hear a siren? Pull to the RIGHT and STOP.

California Vehicle Code § 21806 requires drivers to yield to an approaching emergency vehicle using a siren and red light:

➡️ Safely move to the right edge or curb.
🛑 Stop and remain stopped until the emergency vehicle has passed.
🚦 Already in an intersection? Clear it first, then safely pull right and stop.
👮 Follow directions from emergency personnel.

Stay alert—another emergency vehicle may be following!

The jet propulsion is pretend. The need for a clear path is real. Thank you for helping us reach someone who needs us. ❤️

☀️ Enjoy the sunshine safely, Marina! Swipe for tips to beat the heat and recognize when someone needs help.

💧 Drink water regularly—don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
🌳 Take cooling breaks and plan activities for cooler hours.
👒 Wear lightweight clothing, a hat, and sunscreen.
🤝 Check on children, older adults, and neighbors.
🐾 Keep pets cool with fresh water and shade. Walk during cooler hours and avoid hot pavement that can burn their paws.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked car—even with the windows cracked!

⚠️ Feeling dizzy, weak, nauseated, or headachy? Stop, cool down, and rest. Seek medical help for vomiting, worsening symptoms, or symptoms lasting over an hour.

🚨 Confusion, seizures, or loss of consciousness? Call 911 immediately and begin cooling the person.

Save this post and share it with someone who spends time outdoors! 🚒

🔋 One small battery pack. One fast-moving fire.

This home camera footage shows a dog chewing on a portable phone battery pack before it ignites. Thankfully, all the pets escaped safely.

Keep batteries away from pets and children. If a battery starts smoking or catches fire, get out and call 911. 🚒

💬 What do you think causes lithium-ion batteries to catch fire? Tell us in the comments!
