State Representative Scott Doody, a longtime resident of the 118th district, is a grandfather, longtime radio host, author, and small business owner who brings a strong working-class perspective to Springfield. Doody’s priorities in the General Assembly include standing up for working families, seniors, veterans, farmers, small businesses, and taxpayers across Southern Illinois. He is committed to re-purposing the Tamms Supermax Prison to bring jobs back to the region, reducing the property tax burden on Illinois families, and promoting tourism throughout the region. Doody opposes tax increases, supports parents’ rights in education, and is committed to reforming the SAFE-T Act to strengthen public safety and accountability. He was selected to fill the vacancy in the 118th District of the Illinois House of Representatives on June 25, 2026. The district includes all or portions of Alexander, Jackson, Pulaski, Union, and Williamson counties.

ICYMI: A new regional transportation hub is now open in Carbondale. The Southern Illinois Multimodal Station was fueled by $18.4 million from federal taxpayers, $2.8 million from state taxpayers and $5 million from the city of Carbondale.

The station includes Amtrak, Greyhound, FlixBus, JAX Mass Transit, regional transit providers, bicycle and pedestrian connections, and Southern Illinois University’s welcome center.
