Two more took the next step. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, two Marion Military Institute Army ROTC cadets raised their right hands and officially contracted with the United States Army.

Contracting represents a commitment to serve, to lead, and to become an Army officer. It also meant another special milestone—wearing the Army ROTC patch for the first time, replacing the Marion patch and marking the next step in their journey.

Proud of these two for answering the call and continuing to work toward earning their gold bars!

The journey continues. 🇺🇸🫡

Coffee with the Colonel | Meet the Battalion XO

What does it take to help lead a Cadet Battalion and keep the team moving toward the mission?

In the newest episode of Coffee with the Colonel, LTC Hollingsworth sits down with our Cadet Battalion Executive Officer to talk about leadership, responsibility, the cadet experience at Marion Military Institute, and what it means to serve as part of the Battalion command team.

The Early Commissioning Program at MMI gives cadets the opportunity to do more than study leadership—they have the opportunity to practice it every day.

Check out the newest episode and get an inside look at leadership from the cadet perspective.

The momentum continues at Marion Military Institute!

Over the past few weeks, three additional cadets officially contracted with Army ROTC, bringing our total to 16 newly contracted cadets this semester.

By raising their right hands and taking the Oath of Enlistment, these cadets accepted far more than an opportunity. They accepted the responsibility to meet the standards of the Army, complete MMI’s rigorous two-year Early Commissioning Program, and prepare to lead Soldiers as commissioned officers.

Each arrived at this decision on their own timeline, but all three have now taken the same important step forward. Their commitment strengthens the Tiger Battalion and adds to an outstanding group of future Army officers already taking shape at MMI.

Congratulations to our newest contracted cadets—the expectations are high, the responsibility is real, and your journey is officially underway! 🇺🇸🪖

Our cadets spent the weekend in Talladega National Forest putting their land navigation skills to the test! 🇺🇸

From the classroom to the field, they were challenged to navigate tough terrain in both daylight and darkness—building confidence in their map, compass, and decision-making skills along the way.

A great weekend of training, teamwork, and developing the skills expected of future Army officers. 🇺🇸

A special thanks to the Alabama National Guard and our Marion graduates who returned as Second Lieutenants to help train and mentor our cadets throughout the weekend.

Yesterday, 13 Marion Military Institute cadets officially contracted with Army ROTC.

Only a few months ago, most were still high school students. Many graduated in May, completed Basic Camp over the summer, and arrived at MMI ready to begin the two-year Early Commissioning Program.

During the ceremony, each cadet raised their right hand and took the Oath of Enlistment, committing to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Their MMI patches were then replaced with Army ROTC patches—the first time they were authorized to wear them. That change marked their transition to contracted Army ROTC cadets and the beginning of an accelerated journey toward commissioning.

Congratulations to these cadets on taking this important step toward becoming Army officers. The expectations are high, the responsibility is real, and their journey is officially underway.

Three MMI Army ROTC Cadets gained firsthand experience leading Soldiers this summer through Cadet Troop Leader Training!

Our Cadets served with operational Army units in South Korea, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and at Fort Benning. Working alongside platoon leaders and Soldiers, they experienced the daily responsibilities of Army officers while strengthening their leadership, confidence, and understanding of the profession.

These opportunities are an important step in preparing our Cadets to lead from the front as future Army officers. We are proud of how they represented MMI and the Tiger Battalion across the Army! 🇺🇸🪖
