Saddle Up! Homecoming Spirit Week Is Here!

PARENTS: we hope to see you & the rest of the fam at the homecoming game tomorrow evening, Thursday, Oct. 22nd at Old Fort Elementary in their gym.
The schedule for the homecoming games is:
5:30 pm - Underclassmen Vs. Upperclassmen Volleyball Game
7:00 pm - Homecoming Court
7:30 pm - Winner of Game 1 Vs. Alumni

STUDENTS: Here is the information on what to expect at school & on Friday for the dance:

Homecoming Week is HERE! Our theme this year is Hoedown Throwdown: Y2K Meets Western, and we’re bringing all the early-2000s nostalgia and country flair to make this homecoming one to remember!

With fall break in the mix, our Homecoming Spirit Week will take place Wednesday, October 21, through Friday, October 23. Check out the dress-up days below and start planning those outfits!

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21 — BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Channel your favorite Disney Channel or Nickelodeon character! Think your favorite childhood shows, iconic characters, and all the Y2K nostalgia.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22 — YEEHAW OR Y2K?
Are you feeling country or feeling like bringing back the 2000s? Break out your cowboy hats and boots or go all out with your favorite Y2K trends. That evening, we’ll keep the spirit going at the Homecoming Game, so come ready to cheer on our team!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23 — SADDLE UP & SNOOZE
Finish the week in your favorite pajamas! Get cozy, embrace the sleepy vibes, and enjoy one last day of fun before we trade our school-day fits for our homecoming looks.

And don’t forget — the HOEDOWN THROWDOWN isn’t over when the school day ends on Friday! Join us Friday night for the Homecoming Dance, where Y2K meets the Wild West and the fun keeps rolling!

The dance will be at The Box Factory from 7-10 pm! Pre-sale combo tickets will still be on sale up until Wednesday, October 21st!

Happy Homecoming, y’all!

It is with broken hearts that we share the loss of Arturo Alexander Garcia ("Alex"), a member of the McDowell Academy for Innovation Class of 2026. 💜

Alex was artistic, full of personality, and had a smile that could light up a room. He was a friend to everyone and the kind of person who made our school a little brighter just by being in it. There was something truly special about Alex, and those who knew him will forever carry a piece of him in their hearts.

Alex also showed us what it means to have a fighting spirit. Throughout his battle with a brain tumor, he faced challenges that no one should have to face with a strength and determination that deserve to be remembered. His fight was a reminder of just how much courage can live within one person. Alex was so much more than the challenges he faced. He was a phenomenal human being, a friend, an artist, and a bright light in our school family. We are so grateful to have been part of his story, and we will forever cherish the memories he leaves behind.

Our hearts ache for his family, friends, classmates, and everyone who loved him. We wish we had the words to make this loss a little easier. Please know that Alex mattered, he was loved, and his life made a difference. He will always be a part of our McDowell Academy family, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. 💜 We love you, Alex!
