A partnership between Linn-Mar High School students and the City of Marion is helping connect neighbors with the support they need.

The initiative began in October 2025 through the Venture Academics program, where students worked alongside city leaders to explore ways to address unmet community needs. Through their collaboration, students helped develop the concept for a volunteer-matching service designed to assist residents with tasks such as mowing, raking leaves, snow removal, twig cleanup and moving trash bags.

The City of Marion has officially launched the program through United Way of East Central Iowa's VolunteerNow platform, connecting volunteers with residents who need assistance with simple household services.

This project is a great example of how Linn-Mar students apply their learning to real-world challenges and create meaningful change in their community.
