Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dept. of Fire Services and this members home department and family.

This morning, a member of our Crib Support team was seriously injured after a fall at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy's Stow campus. We are deeply grateful to all the staff who took immediate action to provide medical aid and notified 9-1-1, and to Stow and Sudbury first responders. We ask that you please spare a thought and a prayer for him, his family, and his brother and sister firefighters.

It’s with great pride that we are celebrate with the community that we have just returned from the fire academy graduation and the Marlborough Fire Department was well represented. FFOP Maurice Jarmman received the Richard M. Bangs award. This award is given to the top recruit in each class based upon their academic exams and practical skills. FFOP Seth Gilchrest was selected as the class spokesman and delivered an amazing speech during the graduation ceremony. His selection for this position reflects the high standards that we expect from our firefighters. We are extremely proud of both of these men, as it shows the level of commitment that they will bring to our department and the City. Thank you to all of the off-duty members who made the trip to Springfield in support of our 2 newest firefighters, and the families of both Seth and Maurice. Welcome to the MFD family. We celebrate these accomplishments and welcome them to Marlborough Fire Dept. and the City we serve.

“Strength Through Education”

02/26/2026

This week 9 members of the Fire Department and 2 of our public safety dispatchers from the Police Dept. attended the Fire Chief's Association of Massachusetts Professional Development Conference in Worcester. This year's theme was Ignite, Adapt, Overcome: Leading in Today's Fire Service. Topics presented were wide ranging from a presentation by a Green Beret Greg Stube (Lessons learned from the battlefield), Leading in Times of Uncertainty (Jeff Butler), Calming the Chaos (Presented by Sacramento Battalion Chief Anthony Kastros), Not your Daddy's Fire Service with Dr. Nicole Sawyer. For our dispatchers topics included "What did they just say" (fire dept. communications), State Mobilization Plan (timely given the recent event at Marlborough Hospital), Saving lives on Both Sides of the Call. Lots of great information to bring back to MFD and MPD.
