A group for past and present members of the NMU Pre-Dental Club. We encourage service and teamwork, the tenets that will guide future professionals.

Our purpose is to serve as a forum for students with an interest in pursuing careers in dentistry. The club fosters an environment where members may become more knowledgeable about the field of dentistry and the process of applying.

On Saturday, October 24th, the Pre-Dents volunteered to help local residents who are unable to rake their yards! We raked 3 yards for a total of 1.01 acres. We had a lot fun while doing so too, this was such an amazing act of kindness as well as a bonding experience. Thank you so very much to everyone who participated in Make A Difference Day 2026! It was truly special to see so many people who came together to support our community.🤍🦷🍁🍂

What an amazing turnout for our annual suture clinic! This was such a fun and interactive activity generously hosted by Dr. Steve Davis and Mr. Bill Crone! 😁🦷 Club members were given an orange, a banana, a suture pack, tweezers, and a needle driver. We made incisions through the skin on the fruits. Dr Davis then instructed and guided us through the process of closing a wound effectively! Thank you again Dr. Davis and Mr. Crone for supplying all instruments and fruits! (as well as some candy😅). We look forward to suturing again next year! 🍌🪡🍊

In our ‘first’ official classroom meeting, the Pre-Dental club heard from two guest speakers who volunteered their time to discuss different study abroad opportunities for Pre-Health students! 🇬🇹🇧🇿 To conclude the meeting tonight, Elena guided us through what a typical path for a Pre-Dental student looks like, explained the process of studying for and taking the DAT, and provided examples of what stats make an application strong! 📋📊A few members also brought treats to snack on during the presentation 😁😁. After listening, I hope everyone has gotten a clearer understanding of the steps needed to become a competitive applicant! See you all at our next meeting!! 🦷📚🧬

At our first Pre-Dental Club meeting of the semester, we got to visit Dr. Jamieson and Dr. Brent’s orthodontic office! We learned how alginate and digital impressions are taken, asked questions about orthodontics, and even got to practice taking impressions on each other. Such a fun hands-on way to learn more about the field! Thank you so much to Dr. Jamieson and Dr. Brent for having us! 🦷

Pre-dental students had the amazing opportunity to participate in the Oral Health Literacy Project 2026!📚🦷🪥

This project aims to educate second graders all across the U.P. about oral health as well as provide oral hygiene kits and copies of “Curious George Goes to the Dentist” to every student. Thank you to the NMU Center for Rural Health for orchestrating this monumental project and to the Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan for covering the cost of the books.
