WELCOME BACK, BULLDOGS!

The Mar-Mac Police Department would like to welcome students and staff back for another school year at MFL MarMac Community School District - McGregor Center!

A special welcome goes out to our 4th-grade students beginning a new chapter at the McGregor Center, as well as all of the new students joining the Bulldog family this year. And to our returning 5th through 8th-grade students — welcome back!

As everyone settles into the new school year, motorists should expect increased pedestrian, bicycle, bus, and vehicle traffic around our schools. Please slow down, remain alert, and give yourself a little extra time during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.

To our students: work hard, be kind, look out for one another, and make this year one to be proud of.

We hope all of our students, families, teachers, and staff have a safe, successful, and memorable school year!

Have a great year, Bulldogs!

Nature Drive Speed Study Results

The Mar-Mac Police Department recently completed an eight-day speed study on Nature Drive near Whitetail Court, where the posted speed limit is 25 mph.

From August 13–20, the speed sign recorded 802 vehicles. The results showed:

- Average speed: 18.5 mph.
- 82.2% of vehicles traveled at or below 25 mph.
- 98.3% of vehicles averaged 30 mph or less.
- 17.8% exceeded the 25 mph threshold.
- The highest recorded peak speed was 43 mph.

Overall, the data does not indicate a widespread or systemic speeding problem at this location. However, isolated higher-speed events were recorded, and officers will continue routine traffic enforcement and monitoring as appropriate.

Speed studies help us respond to community concerns with actual traffic data and allow enforcement efforts to be focused where they are most needed.

Please continue to slow down, remain alert, and help keep our residential neighborhoods safe.

The Mar-Mac Police Department was not contacted or notified of this reported incident when it occurred. After becoming aware of the social media post, an officer checked and patrolled the area; however, the described vehicle was not located.

We encourage anyone who believes they are being followed, watched, or subjected to suspicious behavior to contact law enforcement as soon as it is safe to do so. Timely reporting gives officers the best opportunity to locate the individual or vehicle, investigate the circumstances, and determine whether any further action is appropriate.

For incidents occurring in Marquette or McGregor, please contact the Mar-Mac Police Department at. (563) 873-2500 to request an officer. If you believe you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Social media can help make others aware of a concern, but it should not replace reporting suspicious activity directly to law enforcement.

Center Avenue Southbound Traffic Speed Study

The Mar-Mac Police Department recently completed a traffic speed study along Center Avenue in McGregor in response to concerns regarding vehicle speeds in the area.

The study reviewed southbound traffic over multiple seven-day periods to better understand actual traffic speeds, identify higher-speed events, and evaluate the overall level of compliance with the posted speed limit.

While the data confirmed that instances of substantially excessive speed do occur, those events represented a very small portion of the overall traffic recorded. The study provides a broader, data-based picture of traffic conditions along Center Avenue and will help guide future enforcement and traffic-safety efforts.

The Department has prepared a memorandum summarizing the findings, assessment, and recommended response. The underlying speed survey data is also being made available for public review.

We appreciate the concerns shared by residents and will continue using a combination of community input, traffic data, and enforcement activity to address roadway safety throughout McGregor and Marquette.
