Does anyone on here know local people who work for My Newsletter Builder here in Asheville? We use them for our e-news, and their site has been down for about a week. Tech support number is dead, but that's been true for a while. Pic for attention.

Artist Talk
Lauren Rutten & Jack Sorokin
Friday, October 16, 7 PM
Madison County Arts Council
Marshall, NC - FREE and Open to the public ...
From Lauren Rutten of "Save This Piece"
"What do we choose to photograph when the world around us has been turned upside down? What draws our attention, and why? And how does making something help us understand what we've experienced?

These are some of the questions I'll be exploring this Friday evening with my son, photographer and filmmaker Jack Sorokin, who will moderate an artist talk for my exhibition Save This Piece: All That Remains After the Waters Recede.

We both spent time working in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, shoveling mud, helping our neighbors, and making photographs. But we were looking at the same experience through different lenses.

We'll talk about those differences, about grief and beauty, the marks that remain after loss, and the ways art can become an act of remembering and repair.

And we'll talk about the many voices that have become part of this project, and what it means to make something that extends beyond one's own experience.

Please join us for what I hope will be a thoughtful and open conversation."

We are very excited to be presenting this very meaningful body of work from Lauren Rutten! The show opens on September 25.

While pitching in to clean up devastated Marshall after Helene, photographer Lauren Rutten couldn’t help but notice some of the finer details in the chaos. “I was in an exterior stairwell [at Marshall High Studios] and noticed waves of silt on the floor leading into the brick wall,” she says. ...
