Patriot Day
September 11, 2026 — Today, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office joins communities across our nation in remembering the lives lost and the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001.
Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced an attack that changed America forever. Nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives, including civilians, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and members of our armed forces. Families were changed forever, and an entire nation stood together in grief.
Sheriff Buddy Harwood and the men and women of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office pause today to honor those who were lost, remember the families who continue to carry that loss, and recognize the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Patriot Day is more than a remembrance of a tragic day in American history. It is a reminder of the strength found in unity, the importance of serving others, and the responsibility we all share to protect and support our communities.
Today, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office asks our community to pause and remember.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
September 11, 2001 — Remembering the lives lost. Honoring the heroes.
