Madison Early College High School MECHS is a 4-5 year accelerated program/collaborative effort between Madison County Schools & AB-Tech

Madison Early College High School is a collaborative effort between Madison County Schools and AB-Tech Community College. The school is structured to
provide relevance, rigor, and relationships for students wanting to pursue a high school diploma and take college course work in a dual enrollment program. Students may be first generation college students, have financial need, be traditionally underserved in higher education, or benefit from an accelerated academic program. Madison Early College students must possess the maturity and independence to accept the challenges of this progressive school. The Madison Early College student will belong to an intimate community of peers and faculty within a smaller setting than traditional high schools.

READY FOR COLLEGE: Innovative high schools are characterized by the pervasive, transparent, and consistent understanding that the school exists for the purpose of preparing all students for college and work. They maintain a common set of high standards for every student to overcome the harmful consequences of tracking and sorting. POWERFUL TEACHING AND LEARNING: Innovative high schools are characterized by the presence of commonly held standards for high quality instructional practice. Teachers in these schools design rigorous instruction that ensures the development of critical thinking, application, and problem solving skills often neglected in traditional settings. PERSONALIZATION: Staff in innovative high schools understand that knowing students well is an essential condition of helping them achieve academically. These high schools ensure adults leverage knowledge of students in order to improve student learning. REDEFINED PROFESSIONALISM: The responsibility to the shared vision of innovative high schools is evident in the collaborative, creative, leadership roles of all adult staff in the schools. The staff of these schools take responsibility for the success of every student, hold themselves accountable to their colleagues, and are reflective about their roles. PURPOSEFUL DESIGN: Innovative high schools are designed to create the conditions that ensure the other four design principles: ready for college, powerful teaching and learning, personalization, and redefined professionalism. The organization of time, space, and the allocation of resources ensures that these best practices become common practice.

Our October Youth Advisory Council is coming up next Monday the 26th here at CHC's Home For Housing 798 Walnut Creek Rd. Marshall NC. We meet afterschool at 3:30! Come get involved in our mission to help stabilize housing. There will be snacks and volunteer projects to earn your volunteer credits as well. The are using Global Leaders Traits of “Critical Thinking” and “Curiosity” to learn about items like deductions, net and gross pay, and retirement contributions. Real world learning! 🌎📚💡
