- No advanced prep/reading necessary.
- We will talk about any book that they enjoyed reading this past month
- There will be a light snack

We're very fortunate and grateful to have such a fantastic Friends of the Marshall-Lyon County Library! Did you know that our Friends provide funding for many of the "extras" that help make our library great? Our Friends provide funding for new toys & games; speakers & events; special Kanopy collections; library display shelves; labels & containers for our Library of Amusements; and much, much more!

Want to support our Friends? They're looking for help setting up and running their upcoming Holiday Sale in November. They also accept new members all year round! You can learn more about our Friends on their page or on our website: https://marshalllyonlibrary.org/friends/

Happy National Friends of Libraries Week! 🎉

This week, we recognize and celebrate the volunteers everywhere who support their libraries in all kinds of ways—from fundraising to advocacy to spreading the word about all the great things the library has to offer.

YOU can become a friend of your library and make a lasting difference in your community. Ask your librarian about joining your library's Friends group, or consider starting your own if your library doesn't have one yet.

Did you know? Hoopla is a massive collection of digital books, audiobooks, video, and music available to Lyon County residents through their MLCL library card! We're glad we can offer such a wide variety of material through this service. Unfortunately, due to increasing costs and impending budget cuts, we have to pull back a little.

Starting November 1st, you'll receive 5 Hoopla checkouts per month rather than 6. This will help us balance the needs of other services and collections with digital usage. We hope this will be the only reduction to Hoopla in the near future, but we need to continue evaluating how to best serve your needs within our reduced budget in 2027.

We're just a week away from our next After Hours adults-only event: Murder at the Prom!

The 1985 senior prom, Night on the Nile, has gone horribly wrong. Examine the crime scenes, interview witnesses, and try to figure out whodunnit at this interactive murder mystery event! Come with your sleuthing squad or join forces with fellow private investigators you’ve just met. This will be a cozy mystery: no blood or intense crime scenes!

This event is free, but registration is strongly encouraged. Register at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/pXngcamdXG

Thanks to the Friends of the Marshall-Lyon County Library for providing funding for this event and to the SMSU Drama Club for filling out our cast of suspects!
