Well, I guess we're doing this! đ§Ą
A few days ago, I made a video about an idea I've had for a long time â bringing a Repair CafĂ©-style event to Owosso. Basically, getting a bunch of handy people together to help their neighbors fix things instead of throwing them away.
The response was so overwhelmingly positive that I decided to spend my weekend making a website, putting together a page, and making the whole thing official!
So here we are. **Owosso Repair Day!**
I'm hoping Saturday, November 14th will be the first of many. We've got the space at my upholstery shop downtown to host this first one (and maybe the next one, too), and eventually I'd love to see this grow into something bigger, with more people and places around town participating.
But first, we need some fixers!
And yes, I fully intend to hit up just about every friend I have who knows how to fix something. đ
Sewing, woodworking, small appliances, bicycles, electronics, furniture, general tinkering â whatever your thing is, I want to hear from you. And if fixing isn't your thing but you'd like to help organize, greet people, or lend a hand, we need you, too!
The whole idea is simple. Neighbors helping neighbors, sharing what they know, keeping useful things out of the landfill, and maybe bringing back a little of that repair culture we've lost along the way.
It's free, it's volunteer-powered, and we're going to figure some of it out as we go.
**Saturday, November 14 | 10 AMâ4 PM**
204 W. Main St., Owosso
I've got a website up now with more information and a volunteer sign-up form:
đ **www.owossorepairday.org**
If you know someone who's good at fixing things, tag them! If you want to help, sign up! And if you just think this is a good idea, please share it.
Let's see what we can build together. For everyone that raised their hand to volunteer in that previous post please visit the website and submit your volunteer information again :)
**Broken things are still good things.** đ§Ą
