Can anyone else believe it is already October!?

Not only is this month considered by many as the spookiest season of the yearπŸŽƒπŸ‘»
October 1st marks the start of Archery season for deer hunters!🦌

For us here at ICD we officially have closed our trails and property until Janury 1st to allow deer hunters a chance to harvest White-Tailed Deer.

Hunting white-tailed deer not only is a practice that has been passed down for many generations, and is an important cultural practice for many. Hunting is a unique tool for conservation, as it helps to manage the deer population.

Managing the deer population in Ingham County is an important part of conservation because it impacts so many things! Not only does it help reduce the spread of diseases within White-Tailed Deer themselves, like Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). It also helps to improve forest regeneration in areas where an over-abundance of deer cause an ecosystem wide impact. Not to mention, many of us Michiganders have had to deal with the almost inevitable moment of hitting a deer with our car πŸ₯²πŸ’₯πŸš—

So happy hunting from ICD to everyone who participates! Good luck, don't forget to report your harvest to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and considering donating a harvest to help Hunters Feeding Michigan β„’.
