At approximately 22:42 PM, the Matawan Fire Department was dispatched to Essie drive for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival 2266 completed a 360 showing the C side of the house and deck with a working fire and the box was transmitted.

Engine 2978 and ladder 2990 arrived shortly after and crews stretched 2 lines and quickly put out the fire.

We would like to thank the Matawan Police Department, Matawan Fire Police, and all of our mutual aid companies for their assistance and teamwork.

What a great day in the community! The Matawan Fire Department was proud to be part of this year’s Matawan Day and connect with so many members of the Matawan community.

From meeting residents and showing off our apparatus to hands-on activities and fire safety education, our members had a great time representing the department and sharing what we do.

The Matawan Fire Department remembers and honors the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Join us tonight at 6:00 PM at Matawan Memorial Park, at the corner of Broad Street and Main Street, for a remembrance ceremony as we honor those we lost and those who served.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🕊️🇺🇸

Please join the Matawan Fire Department next Friday, September 11 at 6:00 PM for a 9/11 Remembrance Service at Matawan’s Memorial Park (Corner of Broad and Main near Lake Matawan).

A special ceremony will be held to honor the memory of the victims, including many Matawan residents, who tragically lost their lives 25 years ago.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at 201 Broad Street.

07/20/2026

At approximately 12:30 PM, the Matawan Fire Department was dispatched to 938 Highway 34 for a reported structure fire.

Upon the arrival of the Chief, a working fire was confirmed, and the box alarm was transmitted. Truck 90 and Engine 78 arrived shortly thereafter, stretched hose lines, forced entry into the structure, and quickly located a vehicle fire inside the shop and extinguished it.

We would like to thank the Matawan Police Department, Matawan Fire Police, and all of our mutual aid companies for their assistance and teamwork.

The Matawan Fire Department would like to congratulate our three newest firefighters on graduating from the Union County Fire Academy after five months of tireless work and dedication. They have successfully earned both their Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.

Congratulations, gentlemen! We are proud to have you as members of our department and wish you the best of luck as you embark on this new chapter of your firefighting careers.

At 1559 hours on Tuesday, May 12, the matawan Fire Department was dispatched to a working structure fire in the borough. Chief 2966 arrived and transmitted a box alarm for a working fire, with Engine 2978 and Truck 2990 shortly behind.

Crews quickly stretched a line and had water on the fire within a minute of arrival. Initial crews made quick work of the fire, preventing extension to the remainder of the structure.

Thank you to all companies from the Bayshore Box for your response and assistance.

At 04:02 hours on 11/06/25, Box 2901 was transmitted for a reported structure fire on Main Street in the Borough of Matawan.

Chief 29 arrived within minutes and confirmed a working fire with flames from the A/B corner of the second floor.

Engine 2978 and ladder 2990 arrived shortly afterward, stretched an attack line, and advanced inside. Their crews made a quick interior push and knocked down the fire before it could gain any more ground.
