Thank you to CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit for continuing to provide opportunities to Metro Fire to gain training and experience through interagency partnerships.

Today, Captain Taylor Loheit participated in a Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) near Sly Park in El Dorado County, gaining invaluable experience in firing operations and resource management.

Collaborative fire protection extends well beyond jurisdictional boundaries. It is foundational to the California Fire Service and its success depends on interoperational readiness, experience, and functionality.

🚒 DID YOU KNOW? 🚒

Did you know that every fire apparatus responding to a structure fire has a preassigned responsibility?

These assignments allow firefighters to immediately go to work, with multiple crews performing critical tasks simultaneously to protect lives and property.

🔥 Ride along with Truck 23 as they respond to a house fire this past week in North Highlands!

When crews arrived, they encountered a boarded-up, abandoned home that required firefighters to “soften” the structure by removing boards from windows and doors to gain access.

As Truck 23 arrived, other crews were already hard at work performing critical assignments:

🚒 Fire Attack
💧 Water Supply
🔎 Primary Search

Truck 23 quickly split into two teams. One team assisted with roof operations, while the other went inside to open ceilings, providing access to the attic so firefighters could advance hose lines and extinguish the fire.

Different apparatus. Different assignments. One mission. 💪🚒

🚨 SAFETY REMINDER: Vacant and abandoned buildings can present serious dangers, including hidden fire, weakened floors, and structural collapse. Never enter a burning building, even if you believe it is unoccupied. Stay a safe distance away, call 911 (tel:911), and allow firefighters to handle the emergency.

Today, Metro Fire was honored to bring our Cancer Awareness Engine to Rancho Cordova City Hall for a special photo opportunity with the City’s leadership team.

Over the next two months, this engine will travel throughout the Metro Fire community as a visible symbol of awareness, support, strength, and hope for everyone whose life has been touched by cancer.

Cancer affects millions of individuals and families across our nation and around the world. Behind every diagnosis is a warrior — someone facing a battle that requires incredible courage, strength, and resilience. Standing beside them are families, friends, caregivers, and communities fighting alongside them every step of the way.

Our Cancer Awareness Engine represents all of those warriors — those currently fighting, the survivors who inspire us, and those we remember and honor.

Metro Fire is proud to stand with our communities in raising awareness and reminding every person facing cancer:

You do not fight alone.

Thank you to the City of Rancho Cordova and its leadership team for joining us in spreading this important message.
