A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A
combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create favorable weather for
rapid fire growth and spread. Avoid activities that promote open flames and sparks. A Fire Weather Watch means
that the potential for critical fire weather conditions exists. These conditions could promote the rapid

🔥 DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS FRIDAY (10/16/26) AND SATURDAY (10/17/26)

Strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation are creating dangerous fire conditions across Mississippi today and into the weekend. Red Flag Warnings are in effect today as a strong cold front moves through, bringing northwest winds gusting between 25 and 35 mph.

These conditions can cause fires to spread quickly, so now is the time to take extra precautions.

🚫 Help prevent wildfires:

Follow local burn bans and restrictions.

Avoid outdoor burning.

Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks.

Dispose of ci******es properly.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for parts of the area from 9 AM to 8 PM CDT Friday. Expect north winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, very dry fuels, and minimum humidity of 25 to 40 percent. Any fires could spread rapidly, and outdoor burning isn’t recommended. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Saturday morning through Saturday evening.
