Career Achievements

We want to congratulate two of our staff members on their most recent professional achievements.

Police Administrative Services Manager Talia Hood received her Advanced Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Obtaining this certificate requires a minimum of nine years of full-time service and several hundred hours of additional education and non-mandatory training.

Telecommunications Supervisor Tess Fauzio received her Intermediate Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Obtaining this certificate requires a minimum of four years of full-time service and several hundred hours of education and non-mandatory training.

She is described as a black female, 5’6” tall, weighing 280 lbs., with black hair, and brown eyes.

**UPDATE**

The road is now back open.

Traffic Alert - Crestdale Road is closed in the 300 block due to a traffic crash that damaged a utility pole. Duke Energy is on scene and estimates the road will not reopen for approximately five hours.

Matthews 101

We want to thank all of this year's Town of Matthews, NC - Government 101 participants for visiting the police department to learn about the structure of the agency, how some of our daily operations work, and to hear directly from our staff about their commitment and dedication to keeping Matthews the safe place it is.

Homeschool Group Tour

Thank you to the homeschool group that recently took the time to visit and meet with our C.O.R.E. Unit to learn more about our police department and how we help keep Matthews safe.

This event was also in recognition of National Faith & Blue Weekend 2026. Faith & Blue was launched to facilitate safer, stronger, more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses, and community groups through the connections of local faith-based organizations.
