🇺🇸 25 Years Later — Never Forget 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years later, we remember September 11, 2001, and the lives that were forever changed. We honor the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all the police officers, EMS providers, military members, and heroes who answered the call.
We remember. We honor. We will NEVER FORGET.

Never forget to remind others the amount of courage that was displayed on this horrific day.

Never forget what it was like September 12th 2001. Everyone’s differences didn’t matter. Neighbors helped neighbors. Never forget to be united.

Our hearts go out to our brothers and sister of the 343 FDNY,NYPD and FNDY EMS members that made the ultimate sacrifice 25 years ago. And to the all the families who’s lives have been changed for ever that day.

The community is invited to join all the North Fork fire departments in a ceremony of remembrance at the September 11th and firefighters memorial at Cochran park in peconic starting at 6 pm.

It is with deep regret that the Chiefs Office of the Mattituck Fire Department has to announce that

53 year member and Ex-Chief

James “Lipsy” Lessard

Has answered his last alarm.

Wake services will be Thursday 6/4 from 5-8pm at Defriest-Grattan funeral home in Mattituck with Firematic services at 730pm.

Funeral services will be Friday 6/5 at Our Lady Of Good Council Church in Mattituck at 11am. With burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.

For more than five decades, James answered the call whenever his community needed him. His commitment, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the fire service helped shape our department and left a lasting impact on generations of firefighters.
Whether serving as Chief, mentoring younger members, or simply being a dependable friend and brother firefighter. James exemplified what it meant to serve others. His legacy of selflessness, professionalism, and pride in the Mattituck Fire Department will never be forgotten.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
Ex-Chief James Lessard has answered his last alarm, but his service, dedication, and memory will continue to inspire us for years to come.
Rest easy, Chief. We have it from here.
