Children are affected by addiction, even when they aren’t the ones using substances. 💙

They see more than we realize. They hear conversations, notice changes in behavior, and feel the stress and uncertainty around them.

But too often, these children go unrecognized, unheard, and unsupported.

They need safe spaces to ask questions, honest and age-appropriate answers, and caring adults who understand what they may be experiencing.

At NACoA, we believe children deserve support and opportunities for healing, regardless of where their parent or caregiver is in their substance use or recovery journey.

Children need hope, too. 💙

Learn how NACoA is helping children and families affected by addiction at nacoa.org.

When people ask what one of the most important things a CASA can do, they just might be surprised when we reply:

✨ Show up ✨

It may sound simple, but for many of the kids in the system, that is something few people have done for them. Being a consistent, stable presence in the life of a child whose life has been filled with inconsistency is one of the most important things we do.
