Bowie County Burn Ban Notice

Even with the recent rainfall, Bowie County remains under a burn ban due to continued fire danger and dry conditions.

Please continue to refrain from all outdoor burning until the burn ban has been lifted. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping prevent fires and keep our community safe.

BURN BAN IN EFFECT

Bowie County has been placed under a Burn Ban effective today, August 17, 2026.

Due to extremely dry conditions, the risk of wildfires is currently high. Residents are urged to abide by the burn ban and refrain from all outdoor burning, including but not limited to brush, leaves, grass, trash, debris, construction materials, burn barrels, fire pits, campfires, and any type of controlled or agricultural burning, until the ban has been lifted.

Please help protect our community, homes, and surrounding areas by following the burn ban regulations and using extreme caution with any potential sources of ignition.

Don’t forget! The Maud Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry Fundraiser is happening tomorrow starting at 11 AM!

Come out and support your local firefighters while enjoying some great food and good company. Bring your friends and family—we’d love to see the whole community there!

Just a quick update! We’ve noticed the event page is showing the fish fry starting at 1 PM, but that’s incorrect. We’ll actually begin serving at 11AM Saturday, April 11th.

I’ve tried updating the page, but it may take a little time to reflect for everyone. Thanks for your patience & we hope to see you there!
