🏈Get ready to JUMP AROUND! The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs is once again distributing free tickets to this year's Wisconsin Badgers 'Salute to Veterans' football game.

Join other veterans and us watch the Badgers take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, November 7. Game time is TBD. It’s also a great opportunity to tour the recently opened Camp Randall Veterans Memorial Plaza, an incredible addition to the Camp Randall Memorial Park next door. The plaza is open to the public during and after the game.

⭐HOW TO REGISTER: With a limited number of free tickets available, veterans and service members can register for the chance to receive up to two tickets online at WisVetsSports.com through Monday, September 14, at 5:00 p.m. Lottery winners will be notified by Friday, September 26.

Please mark your calendars and join our WDVA outreach team at the 2-411th Battalion Community Job Fair at Fort McCoy, WI, on Friday, September 11, 2026, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Building 705.

This is open to the entire military community, families, active duty, guard, reserve, retirees, and veterans. 💫Scan the QR code to register in advance for this event. Explore opportunities face to face with employers, network and connect with resources and support organizations beyond fair.

The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the president to those wounded or killed while serving on or after 5 April 1917, with the U.S. military. With its forerunner, the Badge of Military Merit, which took the form of a heart made of purple cloth, the Purple Heart is the oldest military award still given to U.S. military members.

*As we gear up to party like it's 1776 for our country's 250th birthday this 4th of July, let's not forget our local veterans!*

While we're all about those dazzling fireworks, the explosive fun can be a real bummer for combat veterans dealing with PTSD. What sounds like a celebration to some might feel like a warzone to others.

This holiday, let's sprinkle some compassion into our festivities:

*Give a nod to your neighbors who served.
*Stick to the pros with local municipal firework displays, instead of surprise backyard booms.
*Respect those yard signs asking for a little peace and quiet.

Let's honor our veterans not just with high-fives, but by making sure our community feels like home sweet home for them.
