Some of you may have been tagged recently in a comment about “Alumni” Shirts. We are not selling these and the link provided was likely a phishing attempt. We nearly-immediately noted the malicious attempts and blocked the people and deleted the posts.

The only time you will see something for sale from us will be posted in it’s own post from this page and THEN shared by people. Anything not shared from this page, please feel free to contact our non-emergency number or message us and ask for verification before following links/making purchases.

On a plus note, our crews spent some time at the Mauston High School for their Career Fair today and got to meet some bright young future EMTs and Paramedics!

Today is National Move Over Day.

Over the past five years, 128 people in Wisconsin were injured roadside while inside or near a stopped vehicle and six were killed. Wisconsin’s Move Over Law was enacted in 2001 to prevent these tragedies.

The Move Over Law requires drivers traveling on a road with two or more lanes in the same direction to move out of the lane closest to stopped law enforcement vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, tow trucks, utility or highway maintenance vehicles with their warning lights activated. If unable to safely move over, or along single lane roadways, vehicle operators must slow down. 2025 Wisconsin Act 54 adds the same protections for disabled vehicles stopped along the road with hazard lights on, emergency devices or flares placed near the vehicle, or one or more persons attending to the vehicle and visible to motorists.

We regularly train at Mauston Ambulance to keep our skills and minds up to our standards of Consistent Quality Care! Sometimes this training gets interrupt with calls for service, but we regularly try to cover various topics and actually do our required refresher training this way.

We complete training with a mix of hands-on training, using our Field Training Officers, as well as an online training system that allows us to create our own trainings, as well as gives us access to a large collection of nationally-accredited trainings.

As we tell ourselves regularly, you never stop learning in medicine, and medicine never stops changing. Every day we learn new things and new ways to do our job to better serve our community!

For those of us that are first responders, 9/11 was more then just a headline. It was the dust, the chaos and the sirens. Our brothers and sisters ran straight toward the danger when the world stopped. Many gave their lives that day. Many more continue to fight silent battles with illnesses and injuries from Ground Zero. The uniform carries a heavy weight, but the commitment to help others never fades. Today, we honor the fallen. We support our survivors. We will never forget.

🚑 Today, our crews participated in some driver training!🚨

All employees participate in refresher training every two years, and new employees who have not had any training recently also go through the course. We are lucky enough to have a great relationship with Mauston School District, who lets us use their large parking lot to safely practice our driving skills!

We currently train all of our employees using CEVO V (Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operators), a nationally recognized program, that provides both an in-depth classroom portion with written exam and a skills test.
