Led by Workforce Academy students, PAWS Doggy Daycare provides hands-on, real-world workforce training for students with disabilities while offering quality care for staff dogs. The program plans to expand in the future to welcome dogs from Mayfield-area families.
Designed as a Work-Based Learning program and aligned with the Ohio Means Jobs Work-Readiness Rubric, PAWS gives students meaningful opportunities to develop essential professional skills, including teamwork, reliability, problem-solving, communication and workplace responsibility. Through this student-led business, students apply their learning in an authentic work environment while preparing for future employment and greater independence.

A THOUGHT FROM DR. BARNES:
Helping others gives us opportunities to learn, grow, and make a positive impact.
Acts of kindness, no matter their size, can improve our mental health, build connections among people, and create lasting change throughout an entire community.
Who will you say yes to helping today?

MAYFIELD PRESCHOOL SAYS YES TO SAFETY!
Mayfield Preschool students said YES to learning how to stay safe, thanks to the Mayfield Village Fire Department.
Firefighter/Paramedics Anthony Havel, Reed Ruthenberg, Tim Byrne and Dave Soriano visited our preschoolers for a hands-on learning experience about the important work of firefighters and EMS professionals and how to stay safe in an emergency.
Students explored the fire truck and ambulance, learned about the protective gear firefighters wear and discovered why each piece is important. They also practiced crawling low, and learned and practiced Stop, Drop and Roll on mats.
These hands-on experiences help our youngest Wildcats build confidence, develop important safety skills and learn from the community heroes who help keep us safe.
THANK YOU to the Mayfield Village Fire Department for saying YES to our students, strengthening our community partnership and helping our students build a strong safety foundation.

MAYFIELD CITY SCHOOLS - ARCHITECTS OF LEARNING: REIMAGINING DIFFERENTIATION
What if we differentiated the learning experience itself?
Mayfield City Schools Assistant Superintendent Jeffrey Legan and Mayfield High School Principal Brian Linn took that question to the national AASA EdLeader Promise Conference, sharing how Mayfield is reimagining differentiation by putting students at the center of learning.
"By connecting students’ interests, strengths and needs with teachers, community partners and flexible learning experiences, Mayfield is creating more opportunities for students to take ownership of their education," Mr. Legan explained. "It's not less rigor. It's more agency."
