🚨 Happy National First Responders Day! 🚒🚑

Today, we honor and recognize the brave men and women who answer the call when others need help the most. ❤️

Here at Union County Rescue Squad, we are proud to serve our community and stand ready to respond when emergencies arise. Our volunteers dedicate their time, effort, and hearts to helping others, often leaving behind their families, jobs, and personal lives to answer a call for help.

Being a first responder is more than just a title. It means showing up when people are having some of their hardest days, putting others before yourself, and serving your community with courage, compassion, and dedication.

Today, we want to say THANK YOU to every first responder who sacrifices their time, faces the unexpected, and works tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Whether you serve in rescue, fire, EMS, law enforcement, or dispatch, your service matters more than words can express.

To our fellow first responders, our volunteers, and everyone who supports us behind the scenes — we appreciate you!

From all of us at Union County Rescue Squad, thank you for answering the call and making a difference. We are honored to serve our community alongside so many dedicated individuals.

🚨 Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear uniforms, carry radios, and answer the call when everyone else is running away. 🚨

❤️💙 Happy National First Responders Day! Stay safe out there! 💙❤️

‼️Community Donation Mail-Out Notice‼️

To everyone receiving a donation request by mail, we would like to provide a brief clarification. Our mail-outs are sent through the USPS Every Door Direct Mail program, which distributes mail to designated delivery routes. Because of this process, we are unable to control exactly who receives a donation request.

Donations are completely voluntary, and we understand that not everyone is in a position to contribute. There is absolutely no obligation to donate, and we respect everyone’s individual circumstances.

However, we kindly ask that you refrain from leaving threatening or inappropriate voicemails on our station’s answering machine. Our volunteers dedicate their time and efforts to serving and protecting our community, and we ask that everyone communicates with us respectfully.

We sincerely appreciate each and every member of our community and are grateful for the continued support we receive. Whether you are able to donate or not, please know that we value our community and remain committed to serving you.

Thank you for your understanding, kindness, and support!

Hello everyone! It’s that time of year again 🎄🎅 the Christmas parade for Maynardville will be held on the second Sunday in December which is the 13th beginning at 2:30pm. For everyone that would like to be in the parade, line up is at 1:00pm (come earlier if you want) judging ends at 1:30pm. And must have a helmet on at all times! If these rules are broken, we will revert back to the old ruling and forbid them for many years again. Line up with be the same as it has in the past; parade floats along the back road next to the 33 bridge statue. Classic cars trucks and tractors in the students parking area. Commercial trucks. ⚠️🌩️ SEVERE WEATHER PREPAREDNESS – UNION COUNTY, TN 🌩️⚠️

With the potential for severe weather moving into our area this weekend, Union County Rescue Squad wants our community to know that we will be ready to respond when you need us most. Our members are taking the necessary steps to ensure our personnel and equipment are prepared to assist our citizens should severe weather impact our county.

Our priority is the safety and well-being of our community. We will continue to monitor conditions and remain prepared to respond to emergencies as needed.

🌪️ SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY TIPS:

✅ Stay Weather-Aware: Monitor local weather forecasts, weather alerts, and warnings throughout the weekend.

✅ Have a Plan: Know where to take shelter in your home. During a tornado warning, move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows.

✅ Charge Your Devices: Keep cell phones, flashlights, and portable chargers ready in case of power outages.

✅ Prepare an Emergency Kit: Have water, nonperishable food, medications, a first-aid kit, and necessary supplies readily available.

✅ Stay Away From Floodwaters: Never walk or drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don’t drown!

✅ Be Careful Outdoors: Stay away from downed power lines and report hazards to the appropriate authorities.

✅ Know When to Call 911: Call 911 for emergencies requiring immediate assistance. Please avoid unnecessary calls so emergency resources remain available for those who need them.

🙏 Union County Rescue Squad is proud to serve our community, day or night, rain or shine. We are volunteers serving our neighbors, and we stand ready to help when emergencies arise.

Please take precautions, look out for your family and neighbors, and stay safe this weekend!

PREPARED TO RESPOND. READY TO SERVE. COMMITTED TO OUR COMMUNITY.

NASHVILLE — Beginning Oct. 15, Tennesseans must obtain a free burn permit before burning leaves or natural debris or conducting prescribed burns. As wildfire season begins, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF) encourages residents and visitors to observe National Fire Prevention Week by practicing fire prevention and exercising extra caution when burning outdoors. Tennessee averages about 1,000 wildfires each year, burning approximately 18,000 acres.

“More than 90% of wildfires in Tennessee are caused by human activities, including escaped debris burns,” State Forester Heather Slayton said. “That means individual actions matter – choosing to avoid burning on high fire danger days, getting a burn permit, taking steps to burn safely and staying with your fire until it is completely out can make a meaningful difference in preventing destructive wildfires in our state.”

TDF is Tennessee’s lead wildfire agency and is responsible by law for administering the burn permit system. Burn permits help TDF communicate when and where conditions are safe for burning and are issued only when fire danger is at an acceptable level. When hazardous conditions — such as high winds, very low humidity or extremely dry vegetation and debris — increase wildfire risk, TDF temporarily pauses permit issuance until conditions improve.
